LifeDemoWave project objectives:

The main objective of LifeDemoWave project is the demonstration of the feasibility of the use of wave power for electric generation in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. For demonstration purposes, two prototypes of wave power generation, 25kW each, will be installed in the Galician coast, which will be replicable and scalable at industrial level.

Quantum Innovative
Quantum Innovative is a Spin-off company born from CIMA research group of the University of Vigo. Quantum Innovative offers know how in advanced mechanical engineering solutions.
Universidade de Vigo
Universidade de Vigo is one of the main Spanish public universities. In its three campuses, R&D projects in fields of science, humanities, legal-social and technology are developed. The University offers the knowledge and experience of the staff at the:
• Department of Mechanical Engineering, CIMA.
• Department of Electrical Engineering, en.e.
• Department of Image Processing and Virtual Reality, GPI-RV.
CETMAR is a joint initiative from Xunta de Galicia and the Government of Spain. Its aim is to promote cooperation between institutions, research centers and maritime and fishery firms and encourage R&D activities and effective technology transfer among partners.
Hércules Control
Hércules Control (HCTech) is a Spin-off company born from GPI-RV research group of the University of Vigo. HCTech offers wide experience in environmental consulting and R&D projects related to marine environment.
ACSM (Advanced Crew and Ship Management) provides global maritime services such as nautical management of vessels as well as complete services of submersible ROV vehicles for offshore projects with clients worldwide.
Grupo Josmar
Grupo Josmar develops innovative projects in wide areas of the fishery industry. Josmar offers the necessary knowledge for construction and maintenance of sea-related systems.

Preliminary Actions:

First stage in LifeDemoWave project focus on assessing suitable areas of the Galician coast and near Galicia for installing LifeDemoWave’s devices, choosing the best places in terms of energy resource, accessibility, operation and maintenance issues and permissions. Opening Event of LifeDemoWave project.

On March 9, 2016 the initial event was held in Hall I of Miralles Building at the University of Vigo. The event has been recorded by the media services of the University and can be seen here.
The event involved an institutional opening followed by a general presentation of the project and specific presentations about characteristics of the Galician coast and the state of marine energy in Europe.

LifeDemoWave, at the Oceanology International in London.

The LifeDemoWave project attended this renowned international fair held on 15 and 16 March, where exhibitors from industry, governments and research bodies shared their knowledge and contacted visitors coming from the fields of oceanography and ocean engineering.

LifeDemoWave project at the International Exhibition of the Naval Industry in Vigo, NAVALIA.

The LifeDemoWave project was unveiled among those attending the International Exhibition of the Naval Industry in Vigo, NAVALIA, held on 24, 25 and 26 of May 2016 at the IFEVI. During those days, LifeDemoWave partners showed the project to companies and entities related to the maritime industry in order to achieve the largest possible scope inside an industrial sector with great experience and interest in the new maritime energies.

LifeDemoWave participates in the "III Workshop Somos Atlánticos: Los retos Emergentes de la economía del mar".

On June 9 was held in Nigrán (Pontevedra) the III Edition of Workshop “Somos Atlánticos”, which this year addressed the topic " Emerging Challenges of Sea Economy ". This third edition was organized together with the Axencia Galega de Innovación from the Galician regional government, and it focused on identifying emerging challenges for the development of the marine and maritime economies in the European Atlantic area.
During the day several presentations aimed at public and private sectors were performed, and issues such as present and future of the maritime economy or cross-border cooperation opportunities were discussed.
Regarding the offshore renewable energy, the LifeDemoWave project was exposed to the attendees in a presentation performed by Silvia Torres, head of Marine Technologies Unit of CETMAR.
