NEWSLETTER ISSUE 49b:

A Summer Learning Opportunity, A Podcast Appearance, #TechWithHeart, and A New Take on Podcasts

Hi <<First Name>>! Thank you for coming along on this ride with me!
Summer Learning Opportunity

Join me online, this June to explore ed tech tools and classroom-tested strategies for designing powerful blended learning experiences for all settings - remote, face-to-face, and a blend of the two. We'll take a deep dive into tools such as Flipgrid, EdPuzzle, Pear Deck, & Loom and learn how they can be used effectively in all settings to promote student learning, gather formative assessment data, enable differentiation, and support students’ social-emotional needs.

In this online workshop, hosted by Kent State University, participants will engage with asynchronous videos from me about the strategies and tools, try out the tools on their own, and participate in occasional synchronous topical discussions. The course will be hosted in Google Classroom, giving participants experience with this learning management system from the learner perspective.

Participants will earn 12.5 contact hours and are eligible to earn 1 graduate workshop credit hour

Details and registration HERE.

A Chat with Stacey Roshan, Tara Martin, and David Hennel
A few days ago, I joined Tara Martin and David Hennel on Facebook Live to chat with Stacey Roshan about her awesome book #TechWithHeart and how it applies to Mental Health Awareness Month and Remote Learning. Check out our chat here . . . and check out Stacey's appearance on #EduDuctTape here!
A Podcast Appearance!
I have to be honest: when I was approached to be a guest on Julie Kim's Demystifying College Admissions podcast, I was a little skeptical. Okay, I was super skeptical. I mean, it's focused on helping students get into the college of their dreams. That doesn't really jive with my M.O. as an educator. But, because I'm an open-minded fellow, I gave the show a listen. And I was really impressed with Julie and the advice that she shares. And so, I accepted the invite. And I had a blast chatting with Julie about passion projects, getting through tech difficulties during remote learning, and advice for future college students. Take a listen here!
A live coding show... on Twitch?
I'm eager to see how this thing goes. When Brad Shreffler, host of the Planning Period Podcast asked me if I wanted to be a guest on his new "live coding show," my first thought was "um, what!?"
But it's true, Brad hosts a weekly live show on the popular live video game community site Twitch and his show is about coding and spreadsheets. I'll be his guest on Tues 5/26 at 1 PM EST. Join us! I have no idea what to expect. Come on the ride with me!
The Podcast will be back soon!
Make sure that you are subscribed in your preferred podcast app so that you don't miss it when it comes back!
