The NMC is currently producing an NMC Horizon Project Strategic Brief on digital literacy, with the support of Adobe Systems. We aim to illuminate the need for higher education institutions to integrate digital creation tools in ways that encourage the acquisition of skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.
The goal of this project is to produce a strategic brief that explores the benefits of digital literacy for bolstering student and faculty success. This report will establish a definition for digital literacy, a topic that has previously eluded consensus, and explore the landscape that comprises this topic, with sub-trends including makerspaces, the shift to deeper learning approaches, and design thinking.
To produce the most accurate snapshot of this pressing area, we’re seeking input from the NMC educational technology community. Thank you in advance for taking and sharing our brief survey, designed to take you no more than 15 minutes to complete. This is your opportunity to contribute to a body of research and analysis to advance 21st century practices around digital literacy. The survey will close on August 7, 2016.
The NMC Horizon Project Strategic Brief > Digital Literacy will be released in October 2016.
