WrapUp 1: Sing Me In meeting

On March 21st representatives of the 11 partners involved in the Sing Me In project met to discuss the final drafts of the 3 handbooks that will collect good practices related to the use of collective singing in the process of inclusion of young migrants.

They will now be proofread, layouted and translated and will be available at the EUROPA CANTAT Festival XX in Tallinn this summer where the project will be presented in the frame of the Programme for Conductors and Composers on July 30th in the morning, with 2 discovery ateliers on Arab and Turkish music on July 31st in the morning. 

We also presented the project at the EU representation in Bonn and the Kölner Willkommenschor (Cologne welcome choir) filled the room and the evening with music!

WrapUp 2: ECA-EC Board and Youth Committee meetings

The ECA-EC Board met on March 22nd and 23rd in Bonn (DE) to prepared the 2019 programme of activities, discuss internal issues about the governance of the association and organise the next General Assembly and conference that will take place in Uçhisar, Cappadocia, Turkey on 15-18 November 2018.

Welcome to our new members!

We would like to welcome our 2 new choral organisations: Organisation for leisure-time music, with a membership of over 3,200 groups representing around 180,000 music makers across the UK. Among their projects: Adopt a Composer which matches emerging composers with one of their members for a year. Born in September 2017, the main goal of the association is to create and promote projects and programs to develop the choral music in Portugal and represent the country and the Portuguese choral culture abroad.

Last days to join the EuroChoir 2018!

19 July to 1 August 2018 | Helsinki (FI) and Tallinn (EE)

EuroChoir offers the opportunity to 60 singers [18-30] to get together for two weeks to rehearseand perform a challenging and exciting program with two renowned conductors.
This special choir project aims to promote European choral music among young singers and to encourage cultural exchange within Europe. And this year, thanks to the support of the Creative Europe programme, the costs for the singers is under 25€ per day!

The singers of the EuroChoir 2018 will rehearse and perform in Helsinki (Finland) before joining the EUROPA CANTAT festival XX in Tallinn (Estonia) for the final concerts!

Happy birthday À Coeur Joie France!

In 2018 À Coeur Joie France (ACJ), one of our founding associations, will turn 70 years and we want to wish to the association and its network happy birthday!
ACJ France has 500 member choirs (children, youth, adults) representing more than 15,000 singers and a National Youth Choir. It offers regional, national and international activities such singing weeks, training sessions and the Choralies festival that gather every three years several thousand choristers in Vaison-la-Romaine.

OperaVision, a platform that offers to each production HD recordings and live streaming followed by a 6 month period of video on demand for free, is particularly keen to hear from choirs and ensembles that have content – staged or un-staged interpretations of full operas or extract, or original musical theater initiatives a broadest sense – which you would like to share with the wider world via this platform.

Opera Vision is a new project for opera in Europe in the digital environment, led by Opera Europa in partnership with 30 opera houses from 19 countries supported by the European Union's Creative Europe programme.


European Agenda for Music

Launch of the European Agenda for Music!

More than 100 music sector stakeholders gathered in Brussels on March 21st to celebrate the launch of the European Agenda for Music (EAM).

A powerful confirmation of the European music sector’s desire to join together in the promotion of a common cause, the Agenda details which directions to pursue in order to ensure a music sector that remains strong, fair, innovative and diverse in a rapidly changing world. 

European database for educational and training activities

In the frame of the STAMP project (a project focused on training and learning for music professionals) it´s being built a database designed for collecting all available trainings or further education activities and opportunities for music teachers, managers, musicians such singers, conductors and composers around Europe, both in English and local-language.

Culture Action Europe appoints new Secretary General

On March 22nd 2018 Culture Action Europe announced the appointment of a new Secretary General, Tere Badia, who is dedicated to cultural research and production in various formats. Until January 2018 she was the director of Hangar, centre for artistic production and research in Barcelona.
