Dear <<First Name>>,

Here comes our monthly newsflash!

Given world events at present, we are mindful of the difficult circumstances many may be in.

We relay the news from the European Choral Association, with these people in mind and knowing they are in the thoughts of so many.

Friends of the European Choral Association

Join our community of individuals, choirs and other legal bodies!

The Friends of the European Choral Association are a community of individuals, choirs, and other legal bodies who wish to support our work through their membership and through fundraising activities.

After the recent change of our membership structure into an umbrella organisation for associations only, we want to keep the connection open with individuals and choirs that are personally close to us and/or would like to support our work.

That's why individuals and choirs are now invited to become Friends of the European Choral Association!

We hope to meet you at one of these events!

Looking back at 2020, we're so happy to be looking forward to proper events taking place this summer!

2020 will be remembered as the year in which almost all activities across Europe and the world had to stop for a while and collective singing was especially hit. Nevertheless, we feel that 2020 will be a year to remember, and this report could become a historical document we later look back at in amazement and to refresh our own memories of these pandemic times.

In this annual report, we thus look back at everything which happened – often online –
within our EU-funded network in Europe.

The EPIC Project

Did you read the Data Analysis?

The EPIC project, co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the EU, provided emerging musicians with skills and professional experience to complement their formal training and help them boost their career at the international level.

A core part of the EPIC project was a data collection intended to map the career paths of former members of auditioned youth music ensembles, both choirs and orchestras, on an international and national/regional level.

Download the EPIC Data Analysis here and learn more about it!

The SHIFT Project

The Eco-Guidelines for Networks are out!

We are proud to share the release of The SHIFT Eco-Guidelines for Networks as a result of a collaborative process with the other SHIFT partners, Green Leisure Group and Creative Carbon Scotland.

The guidelines serve as a reference document for network organisations that aim to minimise their footprint, optimise environmentally sustainable practices, and act as an example of good practice for their members and other networks.  SHIFT is an Erasmus+ co-funded project, coordinated by the European Music Council, which brings together nine cultural networks with the ambition to contribute to a better and more sustainable future.

MusicAIRE: an innovative recovery for Europe

MusicAIRE offers small grants for music organisations for projects focusing on the green, digital or just and resilient recovery of the music sector. The music sector is one of the sectors hit the hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic and will be one of the last sectors to come out of it. The crisis has highlighted and accelerated many challenges which the sector had already been facing. At the same time, it has also highlighted the importance of music for individuals and society as a whole, it has demonstrated its power to unite and to connect people through music.

The MusicAIRE project extended the deadline for submissions of both Open Call for Proposals and Call for Jury until 25 April 2022 by 13:00 CEST.
