Copyright Directive approved

The Copyright Directive was adopted on 26 March 2019 by the Members of the European Parliament: 348 in favour, 274 against and 36 abstained.
This is a strong and positive signal from the EP for authors and creators to be fairly remunerated for their creations and to balance the interests of all stakeholders and create a more sustainable internet for all.

The STAMP project aims to answer a need voiced by professionals in the music sector for greater VET (vocation, education and training) and the related process of lifelong learning.coordinated by the European Music Council in cooperation with 9 other organisations with the support of the EU Erasmus Plus - Youth Programme.

World Youth Choir: audition results

The international jury meeting for session 2019 took place in Toulouse, France between 11-14 of March, hosted by the session organisers.
During these days the representatives of the three patron organisations (IFCM, ECA-EC and JMI) in the artistic committee together with the conductor of the session selected the best singers from 250 candidates.
After many hours of listening to the numerous recordings and evaluating the applicants, the international jury finally chose 56 singers from 27 countries to be part of the World Youth Choir 2019 summer session in France.

10th European Academy for Young Conductors

World Choral Expo

The IFCM World Choral EXPO (WCE) is an international choral event which provides the opportunity for the global choral community (singers, conductors, composers, music educators, and professionals) to interact with and learn from world-renowned choirs and their conductors.
The WCE 2019 will highlight three focus areas: choral music education, choral performance, and a choral exhibition.
The inaugural WCE was held in Macau SAR (2015) and brought together over 10,000 participants with the common goal to sing ‘songs of friendship and peace’.
The theme for WCE 2019 is “Voices Meeting for a Better World”.

Don’t miss this extraordinary possibility to work with celebrated choral personalities, to interact with like-minded choral musicians from around the world, and to experience some of the finest choral singing on the planet.

The Singing Network invites proposals for papers and presentations which focus on foundations of choral music and diverse aspects of collective singing. 4th International Competition for Choral Composition

from 1 April to 30 September 2019

The Competition is dedicated to choral compositions a cappella (SATB or divided into as many as eight parts, SSAATTBB) with a maximum duration of 5 minutes, specifically for medium to advanced choirs.

The winning works will receive:
  • First Prize: 1,000 USD, IFCM Awards Certificate and plaque
  • Second Prize: 500 USD, IFCM Awards Certificate and plaque

IMC Forum on Music
The World Forum on Music of the International Music Council [IMC] is conceived as an influential global platform for sharing knowledge about music and society in the 21st century, a platform that explores a variety of topics from different perspectives: cultural, political and economic.
The topics go beyond the aesthetic aspects of music production and address the mechanisms that promote or inhibit the active participation of people in cultural experiences.

French Music Network

Music Moves Europe

In 2019, 3 million Euro are available in the second phase of the Preparatory Action "Music Moves Europe".

Four calls for proposals and two calls for tender will be published:

• Music education and training (grant)
• Export of European music (procurement)
• Health and wellbeing of music creators (procurement)

Creative Europe

On 28 March 2019, the Plenary of the European Parliament adopted their report on Creative Europe.
Members of the European Parliament voted in favor of doubling the budget of the 2021-2027 Creative Europe programme and to enhance international circulation of works, supporting better mobility for artists, cross-border exchanges of creative player and artists, incl. residency programmes. The music sector will benefit from specific funding.
