WHAT´S NEW IN THE EUROPEAN CHORAL ASSOCIATION?
Changes in the team of the association
Meet Hexin, Jozi and Beatrice!
She's our wonderful assistant for communication, among others supporting the Friends of the European Choral Association, as well as continuing the efforts of the #BenefitsOfSinging campaign across Europe!
''Hello everyone I'm Hexin currently studying North American Studies at Uni Bonn. Melodies and harmonies have enriched my life since I learnt piano and solfeggio, and the memories of jamming music in Australia with other musicians is absolutely the highlight of my gap year. So I wish music can also bring you joy and love!''
After belonging to the core team organising the Europa Cantat festival against all odds in Ljubljana last summer, we're thrilled to be having her join the team as the assistant for regional development and data collection. 🧡
''Well, I come from Slovenia, a country where choral singing has a special place in the cultural tradition, which is why we are known as a nation of singers. I have been involved with music and choral singing since I can remember. It has become part of my life and it accompanies me both in my business and in personal life. I am confident that the European choral family will grow and connect even more with the IGNITE project and its strategies.''
Beatrice is joining the team as our Communications and Marketing Manager after contributing to cultural projects for different organisations operating in the European creative sector. ❤️
''Hi everybody, happy to be joining the team. I believe in the beneficial potential of culture for individual and collective well-being, and am eager to contribute to the association’s purposes by creating meaningful content and ensuring the visibility of its inspiring projects and activities.''
❤️ We say au revoir and thank you to both Alfred Jürgens and Estera Mihaila, who have been part of the team until now and wish them the utmost success on their professional paths (and beyond).

The Training Leading Voices Project
Introducing its wide range of activities and events
The project focuses on the professionalisation of vocal and choral leaders in Europe, as well as the internationalisation of their careers. The European Choral Association published a short newsletter, walking you through all the major events and activities included in this project. The cherry on top? Insights into a blooming love, but you'll have to read until the end for that.

The SHIFT Project
The SHIFT Handbook on Inclusion is out!
As one of the SHIFT partners, coordinated by the European Music Council and co-funded by the European Union Erasmus + programme, we are thrilled to share that The SHIFT Inclusion Handbook is out! The handbook was designed to support cultural networks and organisations of all kinds in navigating and engaging with the topic of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. It is the companion resource to the SHIFT Annotated Bibliography on Inclusion, which comprises a selection of 101 resources, including toolkits, checklists, tests, articles, reports and guides.
The handbook is conceived as a reference book rather than something to be read from start to finish – although there is nothing to stop you doing this! Nevertheless, many of the concepts laid out in chapter 1 are built upon in other sections, so it is worth beginning there. The handbook is divided into five sections.

EUROPA CANTAT junior
Vilnius (LT) | 15 - 25 July 2022
Activity of the European Choral Association
Europa Cantat Junior, the festival for children and youth choirs, will take place in Vilnius on 15-24 July this year. The organizers just announced that they have already received applications from Estonia, Lithuania, Belgium, Italy, Germany, France and Spain; most countries are represented by several choirs, which will create a vibrant crowd in Vilnius this summer.
However, with the war in Ukraine still continuing, some choirs are understandably hesitant to be making their summer plans. The organizers are therefore extending their registration until 27 March. Please consider registering - the festival is offering a great selection of ateliers with very varied musical styles, and it will be taking place in the beautiful, UNESCO-recognized Vilnius Old Town. Lithuania, as part of NATO, is definitely safe to come to; for any war-related questions, please refer to the FAQ on the festival's page ( https://europacantatjunior.org/2022/faq/) or write directly to the organizers: info@europacantatjunior.org
