PKG First Annual Summer Party
Thursday July 11th, 2019
Fremont United Methodist Church
2620 NE Fremont Street

Bus lines that'll help get you there: 17, 24, 70.

Doors open at 6 pm.

There is no formal program at this month's meeting.
This time is set aside for those working on Rose Haven blanket donations to complete, start, or continue those projects.

And, of course, we will have snacks (ice cream! dairy and non!), games, and prizes.

Rose Haven will be on hand to ooh and ahh over our progress.

Working on a non-blanket project you just can't put down? We understand and of course. Bring it and join the party! All are welcome.

We'll have a special extended Show and Tell! Bring those projects that require a bit more time to truly do their story justice.

What to bring if you're working on a blanket:
  • Seaming tools (crochet hooks, darning needles, etc.)
  • Blocked squares or strips to add to others
  • If you want to try a team knit blanket, bring a 24" or 32" US 8 circular needle
Thanks Anne, for the Tip!
Last month, member Anne Howell shared a fabulous DIY sewing project for storing circulars. Our president, Margaret, was so inspired, she made one herself! How cool is this?
Thanks Anne, for the Tip!

A support group has started (Thank you Anna Manayan!) for the Master Knitter Program Level 1 by TKGA (The Knitting Guild Association). A table at the Puddletown monthly guild meeting is set up for our enrollees to meet at 6pm, before the regular guild meeting. The purpose of the support group is to offer encouragement, support and accountability for those enrolled in this awesome program.

Knit Nights:
Inclusion & Diversity

This month will likely be our last time meeting at FUMC the 2nd Monday of each month. We want to choose a new time and place available to other members who want to join, but haven't had a chance yet.

Next Knit Night:
July 8, 6:30-8:30
2620 NE Fremont
Bob Nelson Room

Knit Night is our evening set aside for discussing race in the knitting community. You need not be a Guild member to visit us. See this summary of our 2019 Knit Nights.
Catch Up

In our June meeting, Celeste Percy shared her experience as an organizer and judge for the Black Sheep Gathering festival's annual Sheep to Shawl contest.

See the recap here, and catch up on our past meetings, too.
Meeting Volunteers

Thank you to the generous volunteers that help us set up, greet visitors, bring snacks, and put away chairs and tables. You make it possible for meetings to go swiftly!

Kim Winter, our lovely volunteer coordinator, is always looking for volunteers.

Please email Kim at puddletownvolunteercoordinator@gmail.com if you're interested.
WE *heart* OUR MEMBERS

We're hoping to give more of you kudos on our blog and social profiles because you are awesome!

Member Spotlights include pics of some of your favorite projects, your fiber arts discoveries, and what you love about knitting. If you want to be featured, let us know via email or at our meetings. You can also do our little "interview" any time. Just answer 5 or 6 questions of your choosing and email us back.

We also love hearing your great knitting-related tips! You don't have to be a Master Knitter, teacher, designer, or expert to share a helpful hint, learning, or tip at our meetings.

Let us know if you want to share a tip.

Calling Designers for Mystery Alongs
Deadline for proposals: July 31

The Rose City Yarn Crawl will host both a Mystery Knit-Along and a Mystery Crochet-Along
for the 2020 Crawl. With plans well underway for next year’s event, we are officially soliciting designers to submit proposals.

The Rose City Yarn Crawl is an annual event designed to highlight the amazing, creative, and diverse fiber scene here in the Portland metro area. Ten shops will participate in the 2020 RCYC, and the whole craft scene in Portland is highlighted, elevated and supported through this Crawl.

One big contingent of that crafting community is the diverse pool of talented designers based right here in the Pacific Northwest. We love what you do with sticks and string!

If you’re interested in designing either of the Mystery-Along shawls, visit our website for details and submit a proposal by July 31, 2019. The Rose City Yarn Crawl LLC will review the proposals and make selections in early August, giving each designer two full months to create the designs.
