Special Delivery - New Bags

SDZG Library books will be a bit more visible now as they journey through our interoffice mail system.  If you see one of these bags and it looks lost, please return it to the SDZG Library - Beckman Center.

Books will be placed in the bags by the SDZG Library on their way out, remain with the borrower, and be returned in the bags.  And retaining the bag will be a handy reminder that you have a library book!

If you visit the SDZG Library or Pop-Up Library in person to pick up books, you may still return in standard paper interoffice envelopes.

Oil Palm and Biodiversity

Oil Palm and Biodiversity :
A Situation Analysis by the IUCN Oil Palm Task Force

By E. Meijaard, J. Garcia-Ulloa, D. Sheil, S.A. Wich, K.M. Carlson, D. Juffe-Bignoli, and T.M. Brooks (2018)

This report provides objective, science-based evidence to support better guidance for the palm oil industry, and for the organizations and governments that develop policies and standards for palm oil. It presents the first comprehensive map of all globally planted industrial-scale oil palm, and reviews deforestation statistics in relation to oil palm development. An overview of current sustainability policies and initiatives indicates the extent to which these have managed to reduce impacts of oil palm development on biodiversity. Based on these assessments, the report considers what the future of palm oil could look like and what this could mean for global conservation efforts. —from the Foreword.
