Dear Fellow Educators:
It has been an active and busy time at FLENJ. We had a great delegation of New Jersey educators at the Northeast Conference in NYC this month. It was very impressive to see how many exceptional New Jersey educators gave presentations there and how many motivated educators were there to grow and learn from the best in our region. Our own Caleb Howard was named NECTFL Teacher of the Year after being selected FLENJ TOY for this year! We can't wait to laud him at our conference on April 1! WE HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE AS WE EXPLORE GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP!

Last week educators from around the country joined by organizations and companies that specialize in language, came together in Washington, DC with JNCL-NCLIS (our national language lobbying association) to advocate on Capitol Hill for language education. Teams of advocates met with members of Congress and their staff to urge support of policy that will protect, enhance, and grow meaningful language learning opportunities for all students.
Remember that language education is essential on all sides of government and is a bipartisan issue! Be sure to let your representatives know that supporting language education is essential for our national and global success!
Keep your eyes peeled for our next addition of the FLENJ Advocacy Newsletter which will detail how you can help shed light on ways to support great language education.
Christopher Gwin, Amanda Seewald, Rosemarie Armstrong, and Keith Cothrun of New Jersey meet with Cory Booker's legislative fellow Erin Robinson in Washington, DC.
Will you be there? FLENJ is going all out to provide the best professional development experience for our language educators.
