Dear FLENJ members,

"One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child."       Carl Jung

September is a time of change, renewal, new scenarios, new people, and often nervous energy. This is true for all of us as educators and for our students.

It is up to us to take advantage of this scenario to empower our students and ourselves by demonstrating our best practices, ideas, and intentions in our classrooms each day!

Our passion for culture and language can translate into an inspirational pathway to true globally minded citizenship and cultural understanding for our students now and in their future academic and career decisions.

How can FLENJ help you reach these goals?

We are thrilled to be able to provide New Jersey’s world language educators with dynamic professional development across the entire year as well as opportunities and awards to grow, recognize peers, and become more involved in our state’s world language education initiatives.

Register now for our very first workshop of the 2016-17 academic year that will greatly help you in your endeavor to keep target language instruction at the forefront of your instructional practice.  YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS THIS EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY!

On October 27, Caleb Howard, author of the blog, “Tuesday’s Tips For Staying In The Target Language” will share practical strategies for how a teacher can create a 90+% TL environment without overwhelming novice and intermediate learners. Session participants will leave the workshop with…

  • lesson plans/scripts for staying in the TL. (Some for high school/middle school students and some for elementary students.)
  • a self-developed list of immediately implementable strategies for making incomprehensible L2 input meaningful within their unique academic context.
  • a personalized plan for effective classroom management in L2.

Space is limited.  Register today!
