Please note that the IITA offices will be closed, Thursday and Friday Nov. 24–25, in observance of the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday.

As we prepare to take a day or two off from our busy work lives to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends, I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the work of our partners, members, committees and staff. We couldn’t accomplish all that we do without each and every one of you.

Thanks to the work of everyone who has supported the International Inbound Travel Association, we have been able to accomplish great feats in a small amount of time. Through the work of the Membership Committee, IITA has been able to more clearly define membership categories and recruit new members from across the country. The Government Relations Committee has been working hard to push for funding for the National Parks, bring you the latest from D.C. and advocate for issues important to the inbound industry. Partnerships with La Cita, U.S. Commercial Service and the US Travel Association have flourished under Lisa Simon’s leadership. Together we are making great strides to bring attention to the inbound travel industry.

I look forward to continuing this progress in the upcoming year. Please register for Summit and be part of the conversation about IITA’s future as we reveal the strategic plan the board has been working on so diligently for the past six months.

Whether you’re hitting the road or sticking close to home, I hope you get to enjoy some quality time with those who matter most in your life.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Summit Spotlight:
Emerging Markets - Tapping New Markets in India and ASEAN

Travel from emerging countries to the United States is growing rapidly. However, in many ways the US inbound travel industry is ill-equipped to handle travelers from these areas due to a lack of understanding of their travel needs. The US Commercial Service can assist companies in tailoring their marketing approach given cultural differences. This session will identify the specific programs US Commercial Service can offer to help grow your business.

Robert Stackpole, US Commerical Services, will specifically educate attendees on tapping the makets in India and ASEAN.
The U.S. Department of Commerce estimates tourism from India will increase by 47 percent from 2014 to 2020, totaling 1,414,000 visitors in 2020. The 2017 US India Tourism Year should certainly add to these numbers as well. This timely presentation will certainly be one you don't want to miss out on.

Destination Capitol Hill: March 28-29, 2017

Destination Capitol Hill (DCH) is the U.S. Travel industry's premier legislative fly-in.

The event brings travel leaders from across the country to Washington, D.C. to educate policymakers about the power of travel. The program combines a legislative day on Capitol Hill with advocacy training, guest speakers and peer-to-peer networking. DCH provides delegates with an opportunity to learn about upcoming legislation that impacts travel, network with peers and meet with members of Congress to stress the importance of travel as an economic driver.
