These stories of junior to mid-level women offer leaders an understanding of what to consider when attracting, retaining and advancing inclusion in the workplace. The LEAD Network’s vision is a diverse workforce where both men and women are enabled to contribute their full potential and lead their organisations to the next level of value creation.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Retailer study:
Why Diversity Matters to Men

The LEAD Network study Success in Store about successful female store managers is followed by the 2017 study Why Diversity Matters to Men. The objective is to obtain a retail executive perspective on how to make the topic of gender diversity more relevant for men.

So far, nine retailers have committed to participate: Ahold Delhaize, ASDA, Carrefour, Costco Wholesale, ICA, Jeronimo Martins, Makro / Metro, Sonae, and Tesco. The study is led by EY and Kalypso. Results will be presented at the LEAD Network lustrum event in Amsterdam on November 3rd.

Retailers who would still like to join the study are welcome. Please contact mick.broekhof@lead-eu.net

Sharing Best Practices Among Retailers

One of the strengths of the LEAD Network is the knowledge that is shared among its members based upon a vast array of experiences. A recent request was made by a retailer member of LEAD on how other companies are dealing with the topic of unconscious bias, and so a conference call was organized between three retailer representatives to understand how they have addressed this issue internally. This first ’trial’ call was a success, and will now be rolled out to more LEAD retail partner companies as a regular best-practice sharing opportunity on 'top of mind’ issues.

The meeting was led by the Education Committee which is composed of experienced trainers, mentors and HR directors. INTERNATIONAL
WOMEN'S DAY
The world took a big step forward to commemorate women’s achievements on the 8th of March. This year, we all take a bolder, stronger stride towards a gender equal workplace in Consumer Products & Retail. Let’s take a sneak peek at what some of our partners are doing on International Women’s Day.

#BetterTogether
This year, Ahold Delhaize celebrates International Women’s Day at their Zandaam headquarters. The day will begin by taking the Pledge to Create an Inclusive Workplace with remarks by Dick Boer, Chief Executive Officer, Chairman Management Board and Executive Committee, Ahold Delhaize & Abbe Luersman, Chief Human Resources Officer, Member Executive Committee, Ahold Delhaize. The day’s programme  Better Together to Create an Inclusive Workplace will feature keynote speaker SUNY Distinguished Professor of Sociology and Gender Studies at Stony Brook University, Dr. Michael Kimmel, who will deliver an address on Engaging Men to Support Gender Equality - and moderate an Executive Committee panel discussion on Diversity and Inclusion.

#BeBoldForChange
EY is sharing their determination to accelerate women’s progress this International Women’s Day. They call upon all of us both as a community and as individuals to take purposeful action and be bold for change. Through Women. Fast Forward and as a vital sponsor of the official International Women’s Day (IWD) campaign #BeBoldForChange, EY will be one of the key voices guiding and influencing corporations, non-profits, governments and schools to build a more gender equal world. Women. Fast Forward galvanizes all of EY’s efforts on behalf of women in the workforce, driving the economic argument for gender parity and calling for purposeful action to achieve parity sooner.
