Fall Food Drives Are Underway!

|
Fall is the harvest season, and the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday is meant for food, celebration, and laughter. If you have a little extra to share, Rise needs your help to make sure all families in our community enjoy the holiday without the stress of worrying about how they’ll pay rent and feed their children at the same time. We are asking for either food items or monetary donations to help make this possible. Our drive runs from 10/1 to 11/24. Donations can be dropped off at our Rise Thrift Store at 114 Rogers Ave in Hightstown. Want to help by hosting your own drive? Contact Rise directly for guidance and printable flyers! October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

On October 18th, join Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and uRise as we talk about the basics of breast cancer, understand risk factors and what steps you can take to reduce your risk. The Tenth Annual Mercer County Turkey Trot — a 5K race and 1 mile walk — will take place Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 24, 2022 at Mercer County Park in West Windsor, New Jersey. The race has grown from a modest affair to a sold-out event that is a kickoff highlight of the local holiday season. Proceeds from sponsorships benefit our local food pantries! If you mention Rise on your check or note it in your online donation, the funds go directly to Rise Pantry! We're Hiring at Rise Thrift Store!

We are hiring retail associates at our Rise Thrift Store location to help us keep the store looking beautiful, well-stocked, and to provide excellent customer service to our shoppers! The ideal candidate is friendly, reliable, able to lift large boxes and bins, and excited to be making contributions to our community. Ability to speak Spanish would be a bonus! If you are interested in a fun job with a flexible schedule, either full time or part time, come apply in store at 114 Rogers Ave, in Hightstown, NJ!

September Community Impact by the Numbers

|
Every day, our mission is to help our neighbors in whatever way we can. In September, we had 1,470 visits to the food pantry by 451 local families. We distributed 15,316 bags of food to local families, and handed out 99 bags of pet food. 406 bags of baby supplies for new parents were given to those in need. 202 of our Rise volunteers donated 1,560 hours of their time. Our efforts are made possible by donations that we receive and by our amazing volunteers. We want you to know that you are making a huge difference in the lives of people around you who may be struggling, and lifting up your entire community.
