Clanwilliam ons benodig jou hulp! Ja, elkeen van ons kan in die volgende paar dae ‘n verskil maak. Kom ons neem verantwoordelikheid.
Soos almal weet gaan ons nog steeds gebuk onder die Covid 19-virus. Dit affekteer ons almal op een of ander manier. Die gasvryheidsbedryf trek veral swaar onder die huidige omstandighede en baie mense moes moeilike besluite neem.
Ons, Clanwilliam Toerisme & Sakekamer, glo dat as ons saam staan, ons as gemeenskap ook hierdie wa deur die drif kan trek.
Om ons plaaslike restaurante nou te ondersteun, verseker ons dat hulle en hulle personeel vir ons en die baie toekomstige besoekers aan ons dorp wat ons later verwag, weer ’n diens kan lewer.
Hoe kan ek help?
- Bestel wegneem etes by jou gunsteling restaurant. (Of bestel om die beurt by almal!)
- Koop ‘n geskenkbewys om later te gebruik, of om as ‘n verjaarsdag/huweliksherdenking te gee.
- Deel enige bemarking van ’n restaurant op jou eie en op jou besigheid se sosiale media.
- Deel ook Whatsappbemarking met jou vriende, familie en jou Whatsapp status.
Ons besef dat almal noustrop trek en dat geld nie rond gegooi kan word nie, maar ons versoek die mense wat dit kan bekostig om ten minste een of twee keer die plaaslike restaurante te ondersteun.
Sodoende verseker ons ook dat daar nie verder personeel afgelê moet word nie.
Soos iemand tereg sê – die spiraal is baie dieper ondertoe as slegs die leë tafels in die restaurante.

As you all know we are still struggling with the Covid-19 virus. It has an impact on all of us.
The hospitality industry is still in a battle for survival and therefore people have had to make difficult decisions.
We, the Clanwilliam Tourism & Business Chamber, believe that if we stand together as a community, we can pull through.
If you support our local restaurants now, they might survive to serve us and all the future visitors to our town again later.
How can I help?
- By ordering take-aways from your favourite sit down restaurant (or order from them all in turn!)
- Buying vouchers to use at a later stage, even as gifts for birthdays etc.
- By sharing any marketing on your own and business social media.
- By sharing Whatsapp marketing with your friends, family, neighbours and your Whatsapp status.
Money is tight for many people right now, but if you are in a position to do so, every little bit helps.
The money you might have spent on your weekly tipple can now be paid forward to make a difference and to help those who are crushed through no fault of their own.
With your help we could make sure that no more people lose their jobs.
Someone mentioned that this spiral is much deeper than just empty tables at the restaurants.

Die Ou Poort-sirkelroete op Traveller's Rest begin en eindig by die padstal en is 14km lank. Ons het dit gestap, maar fietsryers kan dit ry ook. Ons het hoeka fietswielspore in die voetpad gesien. Die surings blom al in sulke plate op dié roete.
Ons het nog skaars begin stap, toe sien ons al drie elande en 'n troppie springbokke. Daar is blykbaar ook hartebeeste, asook blesbokke in 'n naburige kamp, maar ons het hulle ongelukkig nie raakgeloop nie. Die eintlike beginpunt van die roete word deur die geel fiets aangedui en daarvandaan klim die roete geleidelik, maar dit is nie 'n moeilike stap nie. Die roete is baie goed aangedui met wit merke op klippe, klippe wat gepak is en geel pyltjies by belangrike draaipunte. Mooi klowe en uitsigte na Calvinia se kant toe kenmerk die roete.
Amper by die draaipunt is daar twee klein weergawes van Hole-in-the-wall amper reg langs mekaar. Verder af is daar nog 'n groter boog. Jas Strauss, eienaar van Traveller's Rest, sê mens kan darem nie mense vir alles laat betaal nie en dus kos dit niks om die roete te stap of te ry nie, maar dit sal gaaf wees as die stappers of fietsryers na die tyd iets eet of drink by die padstal. Dit is in elk geval altyd lekker om die wildsvleisburger of ‘n pizza en 'n biertjie daar te geniet. En indien jy rommel op die roete sien lê, tel dit asseblief op – dit is al wat hulle vra.
Ons het egter gedink die roete is baie ongerep en het geen rommel sien lê nie. Ons hoop dit sal so bly.

We remain committed to the fight against Covid and keeping our staff and customers safe, therefore we have decided to close Bella-Louise from Monday, 28th June, until 11th July. Although this was not an easy decision, we believe that, under the present circumstances, it is the right thing to do. If all goes well, we will reopen on Monday, 12th July. However, please support us at Velskoendraai Farmstall. We will be cooking up a storm there: takeaways, a meal of the day, homemade bread and lots of other delicious goodies will be available.
