Welcome... the first Wellsprings Way issue of the 2019/20 academic year! Lots of exciting news to begin the year here at Wellsprings. Thanks to all for reading and keep the ideas coming!

The “Mod” gets a summer refresh!
Adding some color. Oh yeah!

Huge Grant Awarded to Wellsprings!
The Oregon Department of Education, through the Youth Development Council, has awarded Wellsprings a $171,000 grant to be utilized during the next two years to support increased STEAM activities. STEAM is based on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) with an emphasis on applied and career Arts.

Wellsprings is planning to increase the science class offerings this year with a view to hiring a full-time science teacher the following year. Additionally, the grant will help provide professional development for existing staff to incorporate more STEAM activities across disciplines. A portion of the grant money will be used to purchase equipment with which to do experiments and projects.

This would have never happened without the dedication of our own Gen Schaack, teacher and Dean of Students, and her loyal friend and grant co-writer, Brynn Grossman. Thank you so much Gen and Brynn!

Enrollment jumps 35% over last year!
Wellsprings has 6 student openings left. Know anyone who would benefit from a Wellsprings education? Help spread the word!
