Business Newsletter
Introducing: Monthly Newsletter for Downtown Business Owners
In 2019, the DDA will be sending out monthly business newsletters for our downtown business owners! We plan to cover important information for the following month, include business workshops, and any other messages pertaining to our downtown and its businesses. If you'd like to see anything displayed or if you have any feedback, we welcome it with open arms! Together, we can build each other up. Let us make our downtown the best it can be.
As a reminder, patrons to our downtown are looking for ease and convenience when it comes to parking. Your business and your neighbors businesses rely on these customers, so please be sure you and your employee’s are being courteous and parking in places that will make our downtown the most accessible for these customers. The easier it is for patrons to reach their destination, the more likely it is that they’ll want to return.

In addition, the DDA is looking at doing a parking study this coming spring to get a closer look at the parking situation in Downtown Lapeer. If anyone has any questions, concerns, or comments regarding this, please feel free to contact Jim Alt or Allie Campbell.
Lapeer Reward's Program
Last year the reward's program went spectacularly, so in 2019 we are bringing it back! The program is designed to get people more motivated to visit the many businesses Downtown Lapeer has to offer, and hopefully introduce them to a new one they may have never been to.
The program works as follows: Starting Friday, February 1st and running through Saturday, March 30th, patrons will have a chance to be given a Lapeer Rewards Card (which will be available at any of the participating downtown business's). This rewards card will have 12 open spots for stamps- when a customer spends $5.00 or more at a participating business, they will receive a stamp that is unique to that specific business. Once a rewards card participant has received 12 stamps from 12 different downtown business's they then will be able to bring their cards to the DDA office in the Lyric Mall for verification. Once verified, the participant will then be able to redeem that rewards card at Lakestone Bank and Trust for a $25 gift card (while supplies last and limit of one per customer). Official rules are available at
There is no cost to you for participating; all we ask is that you help promote this great program via social media! The more successful this program is, the better it is for you and all of our neighboring business's.
If you are interested in participating in the Lapeer Reward's Program please contact Jim Alt at by Friday, January 18th.
Year Round Shop Small Campaign
American Express began Shop Small Saturday, a great campaign to get people out and shopping at our small shops. But why stop at just one day a year?
Let's introduce the Year Round Shop Small Campaign! Encouraging people to get out and shop small everyday.
A word from American Express:

For the first time, new shop small year-round marketing materials are now available in English and Spanish in the Shop Small Studio ( )

As a small business owner, you play a vital role in your local community and it's important to let people know. Customizable and ready-made marketing materials from the Shop Small Studio can help you do just that.

This year, in order to build a more tight-knit community within our business owners, we would like to hold monthly meet and greets. These events will be a place where owners can come together and discuss topics about their business's and hear about what is going on with our downtown neighbors.
These will be informal meetings where you can touch base with the other business's around you, as well as see what your DDA is working on.
Below is information about our first, of what we hope to be monthly, meeting.

Lapeer DDA's Newest Employee
I'd like to introduce myself, Allie Campbell, to all of the business owners in our downtown community. I have recently started as the DDA's administrative assistant and I am eager to be a part of everything happening in this amazing downtown. I will be in the office with Jim Alt a couple days a week helping with anything and everything I can. While I have met a number of you over the last week, I look forward to meeting the rest of you as time goes on. I also will be the one creating this newsletter for you each month, so if you'd like to see anything specific or if you need to get ahold of me for any other reason, please send me an email at
