Message from Pat

Since we’ve added a second night of racing each week, we’re seeing some great rider benefits. Most obviously, we’re no longer racing until 11PM! But also, since we have fewer classes participating on each night, we are able to offer more races, and more diverse races, for each class.

As the Masters riders return from Nationals, we expect Tuesday nights to grow in participation, which means that both the Masters and Cat 4 riders will have the new opportunity to race some longer events.

In case you missed it this past Thursday night, our invitational Australian Pursuit pitted some of our very best against each other. (Congrats to Dan Holloway on his victory!)

These are examples of the sort of expansion in ridership experiences, technical skills and enjoyment that we aim to cultivate for every rider class. The best way to do that is offer each class its own full schedule!

See you at the track!

Racing Recap

At last week’s Thursday Night Racing, the Texas Roadhouse group was pushed to its limit by some great riders from Thailand, Singapore and locals from the Colorado Front Range. “Shoey” Phonarjthan from Thailand won the Keirin and the Unknown Distance event, finishing second overall to Colby Lange who won the Super Sprint and the 50 lap finale.

On Tuesday night, we saw excellent racing by the Masters/Cat 4 field. While Geoff Quinter keeps gaining experience and upgrade points learning from the Masters, it was Glen Winkel, Erin Witter and Terry Lott who took the top three spots. And, Joe Paulson won the Tuesday night finale. Race Results

Athlete of the Week: Aaron Miller

Starting track cycling only three years ago, Aaron Miller of Team Viking came through the BVV certification class and moved on to the Saturday Time Trials. It didn’t take long for Aaron—and the rest of us—to recognize that he is FAST! With a focus on sprinting, he has become quite successful in a short time. He is a  U.S. Masters National Champion in Match Sprint and Team Sprint—and he still keeps getting faster! “I love the atmosphere and people at the track.” Aaron explains his attraction to the sport: “The truth is, the speed is a rush and pushing yourself to the next level is what makes track cycling the sport for me.” Aaron will be a featured “invited” sprinter at this Thursday Night Racing.

Sponsor of the Week

Please welcome BVV track sponsor Wheels Manufacturing—one of the world’s largest suppliers of high-quality bicycle parts and speciality tools—and a local success story. Starting in 1998 in Boulder as a small machine shop producing cog-removal tools and chainring spacers, the company quickly grew into large-scale manufacturing facility in Louisville that produces a full line of small parts.

Wheels Manufacturing products are designed and made in the USA, which means no long wait time for overseas products of questionable quality and reliability. Consider them your domestic source for quality bicycle goods. Whether you are a cycling enthusiast, bike shop owner, frame builder or manufacturer, Wheels Manufacturing can help you out. Give ‘em a try—you’ll be pleased you did.
