Message from Pat

I know the plan was that last Saturday would be our final race of the year, but what do you say we do one more TT race this Saturday?  Last chance to get out and go fast for the season for many of us and the final tune up for those heading to LA for Masters Worlds.

For any riders who haven’t completed certification - you have two more chances this weekend and next so please contact me and let me know if you’re coming!

Finally, thank you so much for making this a great season - I am so very happy to be back and doing what I love! And you all make the job way easier with your much appreciated enthusiasm. Speaking of good news - Please be sure to read the message from Doug & Frank regarding our 2019 season!

See you at the track!!

Message from Doug & Frank
As we wrap up our 4th full season at BVV, Frank and I would like to thank you all for your participation and involvement at the track. We clearly have momentum as we prepare for the 2019 season and beyond. Yes, the facility is for sale, but there is no threat that it will close. However, a better funded ownership entity would certainly help the velodrome to flourish. In the meantime, we can survive, but how can we thrive? Collective, incremental growth can be achieved in the following categories:
  • Membership base: If every dedicated member recruited one new member, we would move closer to our break even point. Pat and Susan are working on a BVV affiliation with the Erie Rec Center, which will not only bring in more local users, but also help the Erie community embrace the track as their own.
  • Sponsorship: We have different levels of sponsorship that might interest the company you work for. Don’t be shy, put Susan Lavelle in touch with the right decision makers at your organization, and she’ll close the deal.
  • Group taster classes: Get your coworkers, cycling club, church group, or any bunch of friends to come out for a group taster. These have proven to be a blast for everyone involved, and often lead to full certification and memberships.
  • Rent a hook and store your bike at the BVV. It’s inexpensive, and really, where else do you ride your track bike?
We will be closing the track in October for some repairs, and another complete paint job. Volunteers will be needed, and we’ll provide you with the dates and times soon. Even a few hours is a big help, and we’ll be able to get it open more quickly for weekend winter sessions. Who knows about the weather anymore, but a mild winter could keep you on the track, and away from your indoor trainer. Fingers crossed.

We want to wish good luck to our members who are participating in the upcoming Masters World Championships. Last year the BVV medal count would have made an entire country proud, and this year should be no different.

Our sincere thanks to all of you at Boulder Valley Velodrome,

Doug & Frank
Training times - Closing for Maintenance

The track will be open for the next two weeks so riders can get some major laps in to prepare for the Masters Worlds.

The track will be closed for the season on October 8th. Our plan is to do track maintenance and repaint the velodrome this fall instead of waiting till the spring.  We want to be fully operational by May 1st, at the latest. Yes, we know that October can be a great month for weather. We thank you for your understanding, and we are sure you will appreciate it when we are ready to roll early in 2019.

Volunteers - Thank you!

One of the biggest reasons for this seasons success was due to our many volunteers! Whether it was help scraping paint or help on race days with registration lap cards, bell whip or announcing. The volunteers here did it all and we thank you!

Lookin' for BVV track volunteers!
