Message from Pat

My message this week is all about the calendar! We have a number of changes to the weekly schedule as we head into the final stretch of the season. This week the motor paced Wednesday sessions will not happen as Tim is on a much needed vacation (nearly 150km paced last Wednesday!) However, due to lots of requests we will be adding a session on Saturdays when he returns. The Sprint Coop is coming to an end, but we will have Open Training on Monday nights from now on! Also a reminder that the Tuesday and Thursday racing schedules have been extended into the third week of September. Still lots of racing and riding left so plan on coming out and make the final weeks of the 2018 season a great one!

Racing Recap

Two things seemed to dominate this past week…weather and Team Thailand on Thursday Night! The Tuesday racing program was cancelled when 40 mph winds made it impossible to ride the track!  That was followed on Thursday with another “tornado” as “Shoey” of Team Thailand put on a show for the final time this season. He and his teammates showed they are in top form and we wish them well at the Asian Games next week! An unfortunately, we ended the week with more bad weather on Saturday. The sprinters did their best to race between the raindrops and though we didn’t get all of the races in it was great seeing Danny Robertson, former US National Team Sprinter back in action!  This week should be fun with racing set for Tuesday and Thursday as well as the State Championships Time Trial set for Sunday. Keep your fingers crossed for good weather!

BVV Weekly Lap Contest Winner is...

Ray Middleton! Yes, again.
With over 500+ laps on the track, Ray takes the honors yet again. If you wish to have any chance of beating Ray, don’t forget to record your laps – It is the only way to take him down!

Rider of the WeekPat Warner

Pat Warner began track cycling in 1984. He was a local racer in Indianapolis at that time and raced at the major Taylor Velodrome. Pat has competed at velodromes all over the U.S. and abroad and has won 13 U.S. National Championship titles!  Pat has been part of the Boulder Valley Velodrome community since it opened. He and his Stages Cycling teammates always seem to be at the front and pushing the pace at the track. “It is truly a blessing to have a great venue and community like we do at BVV. We are the most fortunate riders around, thanks to everyone that works so hard to it the place it is!”

Sponsor of the Week

Stages Cycling — Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, with a manufacturing and R&D base in Boulder, Colorado, Stages Cycling came to market in 2012 to completely blow apart the category of power measurement. Six World Championships and less than a year later, the world’s most data-driven, obsessive, professional cycling team, Team Sky, chose to exclusively ride Stages Power meters to victory in the most grueling professional cycling races in the world, including the world time-trial championships. Today, Stages Power meters are still designed and assembled in Boulder, Colorado—the endurance sport mecca of the world—and are the official power meter of the world’s best road, mountain, triathlon, and BMX cyclists.

Volunteers Needed!

We will need volunteers to assist with the lap cards. Bells and sponges during the State Championships. If you can assist or maybe you have a loved one who gets bored watching you ride in circles and would like to help - If you or someone you know can help please send me email -  Thanks, and see you on Sunday.
Lookin' for BVV track volunteers!
