Welcome to the Covenant on Demographic Change's newsletter!
Welcome to the Covenant's third newsletter! We will find below latest reports and updates of relevance for our work towards a more age-friendly Europe.
First half of October has been busy with the European Week of Regions and Cities, formerly known as the EU Open Days. Thousands of representatives have gathered in Brussels to discuss EU policies and initiatives of interest for local and regional authorities. We are glad to have seen several events addressing the issue of population ageing. It shows the issue is high of the EU agenda and the Covenant is well-placed to contribute to the debate. You will find below a summary of the event we co-organised on how to link up smart cities and age-friendly.
October is also the starting month of a new and very exciting project for us: the preparation of a European Silver Economy Award! With a series of key partners, we will be working hard for the next two years to frame and launch such Award at EU level. The first edition is foreseen to take place in the spring 2018. Stay tuned for updates!
In the meantime, we hope you will enjoy reading the newsletter and we invite you to send us any further news on age-friendly environments you may have.
