Congratulations and thank you to all the Childcare Providers for the important and invaluable work you do for children, families, communities and our society. The B.C. government proclaimed May 16 to be the official Child Care Provider day. Here at CCRR we included celebratory snacks during the May workshops, and for the month of June licensed centers can sign up for an enhanced programing visit for their circle time activity. (Stay tuned for the email!)
On May 22, we had the pleasure of a visit from the Honorable Katrina Chen, the Minister of State for Child Care. She toured our CCRR office here at North Shore Community Resources and had conversations with our staff, and a look at our new revamped lending library.
Looking forward to new and exciting changes in our Early Childhood field for children, families and educators!
All my best,
Manager Child, Parent and CCRR Programs
NSCR's Tunde Getaneh, Sue Irwin, and Murray Mollard with Burnaby-Lougheed MLA Katrina Chen.

Introducing Our New & Improved Lending Library!
Our CCRR staff have finally added the finishing touches to our lending library. After a long wait we are excited to re-open our library to all of you starting Monday, June 3rd 2019.
Our staff have worked numerous hours to update the lending library to reflect current Early Childhood practices. For your convenience we added light weight tote bags, and individual items to mix and match enabling you to enhance your programing and provocations. We added “Loose Parts” to our toy lending library, where you can choose your loose parts, with an honor system of returning these items. Theme boxes are still available for you with some new additions inside. We added several story kits to our book library such as 3 Billy Goats Gruff, Wolf stories, Gruffalo and more. Please visit us during our office and new extended hours.
Looking forward to seeing you at our CCRR library open house June 15!

The Affordable Child Care for All Plan
Making affordable, high-quality early learning and child care (ELCC) available to all families will grow the economy, promote gender equality, increase women’s labour force participation and enhance children’s well-being.
The federal government must play a leadership role to ensure that all children in Canada, regardless of where they live, their ability, family circumstances or culture have access to affordable high-quality child care.
Canada needs a plan—a road map—to affordable child care for all.
