Sail Parry Sound is hibernating - thank you volunteers!
Now let's plan for spring!

After much effort and a few work parties the docks are out, the boats are stored for the winter, motors are delivered to storage, repairs are done, the gardens are cleaned up and the lawn is cut.  How did that all happen?  Some of our dedicated volunteers from the board and membership spent some time in the fall putting SPS to bed. But we need more help!

The happy dates for waking SPS up in the spring are May 6th (rain date May 7th), and May 27th with a rain date of May 28th for cleaning up and organizing the gardens and grounds.  Then June 3rd (rain date June 10th) and June 4th with the 11th as a rain date, and we need more volunteers!  We will be launching docks, moving boats, and doing some painting.  If you are available for any time those weekends or any other time, please email Michelle and we will add you to the work party.  Remember many hands make light work!
2017 SPS Annual General Meeting and 20th Anniversary!

Please help us celebrate our 20th anniversary on Saturday, April 8th at the Stockey Centre at our AGM.

Sail Parry Sound Inc. (SPS) was formed in 1997 by a group of sailing enthusiasts to rekindle Parry Sound’s sailing heritage through excellence in regatta management and sail training.

Among the international regattas it has hosted was the 2000 Shark World Championships, with 54 crews from Canada and Europe.   Three hundred local volunteers and the support of dozens of community businesses and groups made it a success.

The Sail Parry Sound Sailing School (SPS3) began in 1998 (so we can celebrate again next year!) to bring sailing instruction to the children of Parry Sound. In 2003, it won the William Abbott Senior Award from the Canadian Yachting Association, (now Sail Canada) for excellence in sail training.

After operating for eight years on borrowed premises, Sail Parry Sound moved in 2006 to its home at 30 Waubuno Road, a dedicated site for the sailing school and regattas.

Sail Parry Sound coaches and racers have access to the top coaches in Canada and opportunities to train with the Ontario Racing Team. The Big Sound Challenge youth regatta shared the national CYA award for Best Recreational Sailing Event of 2009.

In 2016, SPS finished the loft and the upper deck on our building, providing much needed space for events and boats!

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the success of SPS over the past 20 years, and we look forward to the years ahead.  Hope to see you in April!
