We are pleased to announce that starting in July we will have a dedicated Health Trainer clinic each Friday. NHS Health Trainers will support you around the issues you feel are important, such as:
• Weight management
• Making healthy food choices
• Drinking less alcohol
• Increasing physical activity
The Health Trainer will see you at the surgery and appointments are booked through our reception team. You do not need to see a GP or Nurse for referral. Simply ask at reception or phone the surgery to book an appointment on our usual number 01434 603627
Hay fever is usually worse between late March and September, especially when it's warm, humid and windy. This is when the pollen count is at its highest.
Our latest prescribing guidance encourages adults with mild to moderate symptoms to speak to their pharmacist who can give advice and suggest the best treatments, like antihistamine drops, tablets or nasal sprays which can be bought over the counter and are often cheaper than medicines on prescription.
In Our Waiting Room
Each month we have a health promotion display in the waiting room. The current display concerns stress to coincide with the theme from this year's Mental Health Awareness Week.
Self-Care over the counter medication
NHS England recently published guidance on conditions for which over the counter items should not routinely be prescribed by a GP. These are medicines for minor conditions that will get better on their own or which can easily be managed by the patient. Examples include medications for hayfever, athletes foot, constipation and short-term pain relief (eg paracetamol). The aim is to save £100 million for frontline care each year.
Online Ordering of Repeat Prescriptions
You can order repeat prescriptions 24/7 using our convenient Appointments Online system. To register speak to a receptionist. We receive around 250 online prescription requests each week.
The new General Data Protection Regulations come into force on 25th May 2018. Our Privacy Notice is available to view on our website here, and in the surgery. GDPR imposes additional obligations on organisations and gives you extra rights around how your data is used. We want you to know that we respect the information we hold on you and that we take the security of your information very seriously.

Following the retirement of Dr Noreen Powell in April, Dr David Jones has joined the Practice as a Partner. Dr Powell wants to thank all of her patients for their kind words, cards, flowers and gifts. Dr Powell enjoyed a farewell lunch at the Practice on her last day and an evening meal at the Beaumont Hotel with the Practice team, ex-colleagues and her family. We all wish her the very best for a long and happy retirement.
