Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
First of all, a BIG thank you to everyone who participated in our online survey! We had exactly 200 responses in 24 hours. We were going to use that information during our elders meeting tonight (Tuesday), but Governor Northam beat us to the punch.
This afternoon he signed Executive Order 61 extending what is now being called Phase Zero until at least May 29 for Northern Virginia while the rest of the state transitions to Phase One on Friday. This means we will NOT be open for congregational worship this Sunday, but will continue to Livestream our services as we have been doing recently.
I know this will be a massive disappointment to some of us, but it will also be welcome news to others. I encourage you to remember: we're all in this together, and God knows. I also want to remind you that this is not a matter of freedom of religion or persecution for our faith. We're not being told what to believe or what we can and cannot say, we're being asked to stay away from large gatherings for the sake of community health. The last thing we want to be is to be the place where someone contracted the virus.
I want you to know the staff, ministry leaders, and elders are praying and planning, looking forward to the day when we can begin to worship together. Thank you for giving us honest feedback to consider through the survey.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you, the staff and their families are happy and healthy - we're in the building Monday-Friday and happy to speak with you or pray for you.
Blessings to you in Christ,
Pastor Jeff - for the entire leadership team
