Top 10 Water Cooler stories of July 23 - ready for your reading and comments

by Guy Page
Is Bernie Sanders a hypcrite? Who's telling the truth about plans for school vouchers, Phil Scott or Rebecca Holcombe? Should Brattleboro go along with the demands of homeless advocates? Is it even legal for the Town of Hartford to pass an ordinance forbidding police to hand over illegal immigrants to ICE? Why in the WORLD are health insurance rates scheduled to go up by double-digits AGAIN?

Oh - and read about how the Trump administration has turned off the spigot of federal "women's health" money for abortion provider Planned Parenthood, to the tune of $1 million in Vermont. Say what you want about Donald Trump, the man keeps his promises.

State game wardens had to kill a bear that raided a human fridge (is there any other kind) one time too often. A white supremacist charged with violating conditions of release after arrest on Vermont gun law charges says 'I didn't do it, your honor.' Should we care about either of them?

And finally, the Absurd Story of the Day - a climate protest results in Montpelier cars idling in long lines before traffic lights. Maybe no one told them about Vermont's climate-saving anti-idling law.

This morning as I sat in as the guest on the Dave Gram Show, Ruth from Sheldon called to complain that other news websites censor comments. Not here at Vermont Water Cooler! Unless you use bad profanity or ethnic or sexual slurs, your comment is welcome. Read about it all - and comment too - on today's edition of Vermont Water Cooler
