Dear Friend

Welcome to our Holy Week Newsletter

We have a lot happening this Holy Week and Easter at Trinity MCC.  We want to extend an invitation and a warm welcome to you to join us for some or all of the worship services and events that are happening.

May your Holy Week be truly blessed.

Rev Catherine

Maundy Thursday

6pm Reflective Worship including Footwashing.   This evening we will share the story of the Last Supper, have a time of foot washing where our pastor will symbolically wash the feet of those who are present, and reflect on the weekend to come.

Good Friday

6pm Service of the Nails
This is a very moving service that will set the scene for the Easter Story.

Easter Sunrise

7.15am Worship
What a wonderful way to start Easter - being together in the Amphitheater celebrating while the sun rises.

Easter Breakfast

8.15am - Join us for coffee, pancakes and sausages.

Easter Bonnet Competition and Parade

8.15am - 10am
While we are eating breakfast you will have the opportunity to vote for the best Easter Bonnet.

If you would like to enter the Easter Bonnet competition the cost is $1.00.  The voting will be through putting money in the pots in front of the Bonnets and the one with the most wins the Easter prizes.

At 10am everyone will parade their bonnets.

Easter Worship

At 11am we will celebrate Easter with our choir offering a Cantata and we will be bringing people into membership.  Come and celebrate with us.

We are excited about our program and we hope you will be too.  Come along and share in this important part of the church year with our community.

News from the Board:

Thank you Halle
Last week, after prayerful consideration, Halle decided that she is unable to carry on in the role of Vice Moderator of Trinity MCC due her busy schedule and the amount of work  the role entails.  Halle had previously served on Board in the role of a member at large and then as Vice Moderator since Jan 1st.  We want to thank Halle for her service to Trinity MCC in these roles and know that there will be many other ways she will continue to be a blessing to Trinity MCC.

To this end, yesterday the Board held a short executive session to consider how they could fill this position.  They appointed Barb Petersen to complete this term until the Annual Congregational Meeting later this year.

Thank you Barb for your willingness to return to the Board after retiring.

On the first Sunday in April we will be holding our first C.A.L.M. Meeting.
C.A.L.M. (Conversation, Altruism, Learning and Maturing)

We will meet on the first Sunday of each month after church over a pot luck lunch.  This group is open to everyone who would like to discuss issues that we face around the world that affect our spiritual journey.  The subject each month is as diverse as the people who attend.  It is hoped that we will all grow through our discussions and perhaps be able to implement changes in our own lives and in our communities that fight social injustices.

Our April Discussion will be about the amount of racism in America and Gainesville.  What can we do as a community to help? How does racism effect someone's spiritual journey? Did you even know there is racism in Gainesville?  Is it just unawareness? Come along and listen to some of our community share their experiences.  Let us work together to end racism.
