“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” ― Mother Teresa

Dear Friend

Welcome to our July 2016 Newsletter

Hello from Victoria, British Columbia.  I am here ready for pre-conference Institutes and the General Conference of MCC 'Emerge'.  Already there are people arriving and the excitement is brewing.   There is something wonderful about meeting up with old friends from around the world and making new friends.  There is also something wonderful about people from all different walks of life, traditions and belief systems coming together and putting aside their differences and being in community together.  I know that this Conference will renew and refresh me ready for when I return to Trinity MCC.

When I was thinking about community I came across the quote above from Mother Teresa.  How very true it is that we cannot change the world on our own but together we can made huge ripples, as have been done for the past 48 years throughout MCC.  I am also reminded of Susie Brenner's song - One Heart At A Time.  She wrote this because it seemed to much to be able to change the whole world but if she could change one heart at a time then that was manageable.

Through our denomination many thousands of lives have been changed.  Through Trinity MCC many hundreds of lives have been changed.  Through each of us many hearts have been changed.  I look forward to us continuing to change lives and hearts together through 2016 and beyond.

Thank you for the many ripples you have cast.  The ripples that have come from the pond of love after Orlando have gone far and wide.  It is my hope that this love will show people that they are lovable for who they are.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all so much for casting your votes of confidence in me and calling me to be your Settled Pastor.  I am humbled by the trust you place in me and promise to serve you in the best way I know how.  Please remember my door is always open so come in and share ideas and thoughts as we look to the future together.

I would like to wish you all a very Happy Independence Day - although it probably seems odd to have an English person saying that - especially when she is in Canada for Canada Day!  Hopefully next year we can have a church celebration together.  I will be thinking of you all and hoping your day is blessed.

Many blessings and prayers from Victoria and see you soon.
Rev Catherine

Yellow Book Delivery - Volunteers needed

We may have the possibility of raising money through yellow book delivery from the 20th July for 10 days in the Gainesville area.  If you are able to help with this please could you email so I know how many areas we can volunteer for.  Thank you.

Person of the Month
Each month we pick someone's name out of a basket, who has been nominated for their work at Trinity MCC, for the Person of the Month Award.  This month we recognize the work done by Whit and David who were nominated together for their part in rebuilding the Amphitheater.   Thank you both so much for everything you do.

Pastors Holiday and emails

A month ago the Board carried out a review with Rev Catherine.  The review went very well and it was acknowledged that Rev Catherine has done some amazing work since she has been with Trinity MCC.

One of the areas she does however need to work on is self care.  Rev Catherine will be taking a few days off after the General Conference in Victoria.  During this time there will be a delay in answers to emails.   Typically emails are replied to within 36/48 hours unless they are urgent.  If you have an urgent need while Rev Catherine is away please call the church cell phone and Nita will endeavor to help you or guide you to someone who can.

Did you know we have an Amazon Smile Account?  This means if you shop on Amazon, by clicking on this link:

Amazon will donate a percentage to the church of everything you spend.  We do not get to see what you buy and it doesn't cost you any more.  This is a way to help the church to fund-raise without having to do any work - which is a wonderful thing!

How can you help Trinity MCC?

People are always asking how they can help at Trinity MCC.

We wanted to let you know the many ways in which you can help us.
1.  You can be part of one of our teams - Legacy Team, C.A.R.E. Team, Prayer Team, Fundraising Team, Worship Team, Board, Technical Team.
2.  You can help with our grounds - we always need work done on our 7 acres.
3.  You can help with our flowers campaign - pots, potting compost, plants.
4.  You can pray with and for us.
5.  You can tell your friends about us.
6.  You can donate financially to our work by sending us a check, or putting money in to the offertory each week or set up a bank order to pay directly to Trinity MCC; that way if you are away the Board know that money is coming in and can budget accordingly.
7.  You can share your thoughts and ideas with us.
8.  You can encourage people to name Trinity MCC in their wills.

However you want to help us - thank you so much.

Air Conditioning
Sunday 27th the air conditioning took its final breath sadly.  This has meant us having to get a new system installed.  Whilst we have been able to get a quote that was $4,000 cheaper through someone who was at church that Sunday, we still need to raise the money to pay for this.

If you are able to help or know someone who might be willing to help they can give directly through
or they can send a check or cash to the P O Box.  Thank you helping with this campaign.

Lay Delegates Corner

HI TMCC Family!
I want to thank you for the honor to represent you at General Conference.  As you know we have a very important election and numerous important votes.  I would also like to help you have a
bit of the conference experience through my email blog and the online opportunities offered by UFMCC and the conference staff and volunteers.  Please reach out to me or the TMCC Board to let any of us know your email address and that you would like to receive my daily blog.  I am not sure if I will send it in the morning or the evening as conferences are a little different every day.   Just know that by asking for the blog to be sent confidentially
to your email address, you will receive it every day.   I want our church to be engaged with this important part of our work and our movement to Be MCC.

I have been selected to help by reading and serving during some of the worship times at General Conference.  I ask for your prayerful support as I represent you and seek to glorify God in this way.   I am also offering insight and tools for the Accessibility Team.  I am very excited with the spirit of inclusiveness being shared and demonstrated by the leadership and staff of General Conference.
I look forward to meeting with you all after General Conference and to share the lessons, materials and ideas I will bring back from General Conference.  I give you my word, I have prepared for General Conference as if it is a paid position
and I will continue to do so until it is ended and we have met to review the business and the training I received at General
Conference.  I am well aware of the investment many have made to make it possible for me to represent Trinity MCC.  I am doing my best to respect that investment and to bring back a generous
portion of the wealth of resources, spirit and vision that is Emerge 2016.

Lay Delegate for Trinity MCC

Legacy Team Corner
The Legacy Team has placed reusable coffee filters in the social hall and I'm happy to report they are being used. I would still encourage folks to bring their own cup to church, use it and take it home. I  would hope we could work towards using less plastic, styrofoam, and reduce our waste. Perhaps putting a water container in the church and doing away with all the plastic bottles. Think Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle! We can do this so let's put action behind our rhetoric! New team members are also welcome.

Kathy Gambrell
Coordinator, Legacy Team

Funraising Team
The Funraising Team held a social event on the 25th of  June at Ray Massey Park. The Chocolate Pool ended early in the month of June and Kathy Lucas won. I appreciate some of the suggestions folks have given me for future social events and we will consider them. I have been checking into the printing cost for the Trinity Pet Calendars and the cost to print 100 calendars would be $1000. If we can get sponsors( outside the church) it would make it much more viable otherwise the calendars would cost $15 a piece. We are also trying to find a venue to host our Winter Prom. We need help! These projects will require some time and effort and will take more than a couple of people lending a hand. If you're looking for something to do at TMCC this may just be it! :)

Recycling  -  Did you know?
In 2015, we raised $314 by recycling aluminum cans.  Since 1992, we have raised $4246.
The Weight of cans in 2015 was 1,052 lbs.
Since 1992 we have recycled 14,252 lbs of aluminum cans.  Please keep them coming.

This month we want to thank Joel Ogburn for an amazing evening of worship and music.  We wish you many blessings as you continue exploring your musical journey.

Members Corner
Stress Management! This is absolutely wonderful!!
A lady confidently walked around the room while leading and explaining stress management to an audience with a raised glass of water. Everyone knew she was going to ask the ultimate question, 'half empty or half full?' She fooled them all .... "How heavy is this glass of water?" she inquired with a smile. Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.
She replied , "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm.
If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance. In each case it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes." She continued, "and that's the way it is with stress. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on."
"As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again. When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden - holding stress longer and better each time practiced. So, as early in the evening as you can, put all your burdens down. Don't carry them through the evening and into the night.
1 * Accept the fact that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue!
2 * Always keep your words soft and sweet just in case you have to eat them.
3 * Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.
4 * Drive carefully... It's not only cars that can be recalled by their Maker.
5 * If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.
6 * If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
7 * It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
8 * Never buy a car you can't push.
9 * Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you won't have a leg to stand on.
10 * Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.
11 * Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.
12 * The second mouse gets the cheese.
13 * When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
14 * Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.
15 * Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once.
16 * We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.
17 * A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.
18 * Have an awesome day and know that someone has thought about you today.
19 * Save the earth..... It's the only planet with chocolate!!!

Don't forget
