Ahmed Mansoor’s health rapidly deteriorates as he continues hunger strike

Rights sources have revealed that Ahmed Mansoor’s health is worsening significantly as he enters his sixth week on hunger strike in al-Sadr prison.

Earlier this week, the Gulf Centre for Human Rights (GCHR) reported that Mansoor remains on hunger strike, protesting against his poor prison conditions and unfair trial which led to a 10-year prison sentence for his peaceful human rights activities. His family have not been permitted to see him since the beginning of his strike on 17 March. Read more

UK tourists warned against visiting the UAE 

Rights NGOs have urged the British authorities to warn its citizens against travelling to the UAE following a string of arbitrary arrests of UK nationals.

In an open letter, Detained in Dubai, a London-based campaign group, called on the British Foreign Office to revise their travel warnings to the UAE in light of growing repression in the Gulf state, which increasingly threatens tourists and visitors. Read more
