Seed the Commons has long paved the way to a different world.
To the animal rights world, we brought the message that we needed to focus on what was going on in our fields, not only our plates. Through advocacy and example, we showed that it is vital for animal liberationists to have a proposal of what sustainable agriculture could look like post-animal liberation–and now the movement speaks not only of the harms of animal agriculture but of the benefits of veganic farming.
To the environmental world, we showed a radically different way of thinking about how we farm, how we relate to the world and other beings... most importantly, we invited the movement to relate differently to the paradigms and a prioris that are handed down to us. Instead of preaching to the choir, we challenged the pro-grazing trend from within, we brought veganic farmers to environmental conferences, and we took reign of the agricultural component at the biggest climate mobilization of the West Coast.
We created spaces where people of diverse social movements came together to think up a new world, one in which we established compassion for all as the new norm. And we did more than build spaces for exchange and education: We put veganic farming in the public eye, doing away with the notion that the path to planetary healing must be tilled by enslaved animals.
Please help us continue to put forth and normalize our vision for a sustainable, just and compassionate food system. Giving Tuesday is next week, it's a great time to plant a seed to grow a veganic world.
