This week's sermon:

“What Are Your Loaves and Fishes?”

Mark 6:30-44

Ryan Wilkerson preaching

This Sunday we continue our annual focus on stewardship, a time to reflect on how we can use our gifts to support the ministry and mission of the church. This year's theme is "From Bread and Cup to Faith and Giving" Each week we will look at a different story involving tables that lead to transformation. Our sermon this week is based on the Feeding of the 5,000 from Mark 6:30-44. Come hear how sharing our own versions of five loaves and two fish can give us a glimpse of Jesus’ miraculous love.

Mobile food pantry volunteering
Thursday, September 22, 9:00-11:00 am

Local Disciples churches will be supporting our partners at DRC Housing Solutions by staffing a mobile food pantry at Palm Tree Apartments on the 4th Thursday of every month beginning next week. Volunteers will help receive and sort the food delivery from Tarrant Area Food Bank, help with the distribution, and deliver to apartments for residents who can't make it to the distribution site.

If you'd like to help this Thursday morning, plan to be at Palm Tree Apartments (2625 Race Street) a little before 9:00 am and contact Ryan Wilkerson at ryan@ridgleachristian.org to let him know you're coming.

Interested in making (or learning to make)
prayer shawls?

Over the years, our church's Prayer Shawl Ministry has knitted, blessed, and presented shawls to many individuals and families experiencing a difficult time or significant life event. Whether it's the loss of a loved one, the birth of a child, or treatment for cancer, a prayer shawl provides a warm embrace that reminds the recipient of God's love and the prayers and support of our church community.

The group recently started back up, and you're welcome to join in if you are interested in knitting or crocheting prayer shawls! Whether you want to learn how to knit for the first time or you've been at it for years, your presence is welcome. The group meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 1:00 pm in the church library. If you're interested or would like more information, email Brenda at bwentworth666@gmail.com or let any of the church staff know.

Over 30 people participated in a book study with our friends from Community Christian Church and South Hills Christian Church over the last few months! Every other Wednesday we gathered on Zoom and then split into breakout groups of 5-6 participants to discuss a chapter of the book Be the Bridge: Pursuing God's Heart for Racial Reconciliation.

Now that we have finished the book, we will be inviting people engaged in the work of bridge building and racial reconciliation in our own community to share with us. We are looking forward to hearing from guests involved in health care, education, city government, nonprofits, and other organizations and agencies who will help us learn more and think about how we can be involved in bridge building work.

On May 18, we discussed inequality in housing for those experiencing homelessness after our conversation with Bruce Frankel, Executive Director of DRC Solutions. You can click here to listen to a podcast of the conversation, or any of our past conversations.

If you'd like to join the conversation, save the link below to log into the next Zoom meeting in June:
