Hello <<First Name>>,

It’s that time of year again. Christmas and the summer holidays are looming.

There’s lots to be done leading up to Christmas - the end of the school year, a range of work, family, relationship and social commitments, Christmas to organise, family to deal with, Christmas shopping to fit in, holiday plans to finalise, New Year’s….is there enough time to fit it all in and will the finances stretch that far?  Too much eating and drinking, too little sleep.

The increased demands and expectations of the festive season come on top of the fatigue we often feel as the end of the year approaches. We’ve had a whole year to get through and sometimes we just feel tired out. We feel stressed….
A wide range of emotions and inner feelings are associated with stress. We may feel agitated, overwhelmed and not able to cope. It may be hard to function at all. Some of us may feel tight or wired while others just feel exhausted. There may be a foggy or dull feeling in our head. Stress may cause us to flush and overheat and we may feel nervous in our gut. Sometimes our limbs may feel heavy and shaky. If we wish to avoid feeling like this too often, then we need to set aside some time and resources and to budget for some much-needed self-care.
What can we do to cope with stress?

By being proactive and scheduling into our diary a massage or two, some BCST sessions or a restful homeopathic consultation, we will be better able to cope with Christmas and to enjoy our holidays.  By doing this we are not only more able to deal with the extra planned activities of the festive season, but also better able to cope with the unexpected.  Also, we can’t just rely on our summer holidays to refresh us for the upcoming year if we are stressed when we go on holiday.

So, if we want to be able to deal physically, mentally and emotionally with the busyness of the season and to fit everything in, we need to prioritise some self-care.

Let’s make Christmas less stressful and enjoy those holidays!

We will talk in more detail about stress in our next newsletter.

Homeopathic Travel Kit

A Homeopathic travel kit is very useful to have on hand at this time of year. It contains remedies that can help with the overindulgences of the festive season - too much eating and drinking - as well as remedies that may be handy while we are on holiday. Insect bites, sprains and food poisoning are all things that can occur.

How to stay safe in the sun this summer

We all are waiting for the sun to come out and to get that warm feeling of summer. We also want to be safe in the sun as we know that here in NZ we need to be extra careful when it comes to the hot sunny summer days. As the earth’s orbit is closer to the sun in the summertime here in the southern hemisphere and the ozone layer is thinner, we can get sunburnt in less than 15 min.

SPF 30

Higher SPF is not necessarily going to be safer, as users think they can stay in the sun longer. Higher SPF will often only protect you from UVB.  Look for a sunscreen that protects from both UVA (penetrates into the skin and is responsible for tissue damage, early aging, and melanoma) and UVB (protection against sunburn). You also want to look for a non-harmful and non-toxic chemical-based sunscreen, as the skin is the biggest organ of your body and everything on your skin will go through your body system.
We have two lovely sunscreens to offer that we highly recommend:
Megan Douglas, the founder of World Organics, New Zealand has formulated an SPF 30, 100% natural sunscreen with 71.4% organic ingredients which comes in an easy to use dispenser stick. A fabulous stick for kids and adults, where there is no overuse or waste of the product. Can be used under makeup.

82g $40; Jasmine Club $32

Solimara Truly Natural SPF 30 Sunscreen is 100% natural and is NZ made. It is a ‘reef safe’ sunscreen so contains none of the chemicals considered responsible for damaging our coral reefs. It is a lotion that is suitable for the whole body and is available in two different scents. Solimara sunscreen works immediately and is 2h water resistant. Non-greasy and can be worn under makeup.

150ml RRP $39;
our offer before 31st of December is $36

Both the World Organics and the Solimara sunscreens are non-animal tested. Plus they are also ‘reef safe’ sunscreens so contain none of the chemicals considered responsible for damaging our coral reefs.
