Kennedys for the Kingdom

Our newsletter to update and share Gods calling on us to serve in Guatemala

Welcome to Guatemala - God's favor and provision

We arrived on July 26th to start this calling on our lives. We encountered God's touch on so many things before we arrived, and He continued when we hit the ground in Guatemala. His favor was everywhere. We had not set a date or bought our flights in early July. We still lacked in our start-up funding. But as I continued to watch flight prices, one day stood out and the price was significantly cheaper. We spoke with our Ministry and received approval to set the 26th as our date, we committed and gave it God. Man did He show off! Six days later we received donations that put us to our start-up goal.
It is humbling but moreover it is confirmation that this is His plan, and He will provide. He continued upon arrival to Guatemala. Setting up our phone, bank account, and residency were all touched with favor. We did encounter a small hiccup looking for an apartment in Antigua, but again, He stepped in. We were about to sign for an apartment 15 mins away from the school. But while having lunch the Holy Spirit said go back to the apartments next to the school. We had not been able to contact anyone, in multiple attempts. We went back and were able to make contact and secure an apartment that is literally 30 secs from our school.

First Day of School

We started school August 8th. We really had no idea what we really signed up for. Learning a new language at this point in our lives, we are truly leaning on God. Our teaching is done one on one, for four hours, we each have our own teacher. It is intense at times, but we are looking forward to breaking that last barrier. The depth of any relationship is based on the level of communication, even in our spiritual relationship. So, this is the step that we've looked forward to the most.

Independence Day

September 15th is Guatemala's Independence Day. It was an experience to say the least. On the 14th is torch day, and the wild celebration. Teams of individuals gather and run the streets and roads with face paint, torches, and anything that makes noise. It is a loud and proud day. The 15th was full of parades, bands, and typical celebrations. The teachers and staff at our school prepared their favorite Guate foods and served them to us. It is definitely a favorite memory.
