August 2016

Together, we can clothe every baby and make pregnancy safe for all moms.

Successful expansion to Kakamega County continues

Our expansion to Kakamega County continues to find success as our program is established in local facilities. We are proud to announce the facilities joining our program are Nabongo Dispensary, Shikusi Dispensary, Sabane Health Centre, Mabole Health Centre, Chekalini Health Center, and Ematiha Dispensary. 2020 MicroClinic's Kenya team has worked hard to prepare facilities for launching Operation Karibu's baby clothes incentive program, training for mothers and their companions, and an emergency transportation program, assessing the specific challenges put forth by each unique facility. As always, our team works with the local community to provide sustainable and adaptable solutions to address each facility's particular obstacles.

This week, Dr. Lynne brings our maternal health card game to Kakamega County for its first trial in Kenya. This first in-country test will advise the ongoing development and revisions of this unique card game. We will hear testimonies from local community health workers, nurses, and mothers, providing us with invaluable information about how this game can best serve mothers-to-be in Kenya. Ultimately, this game seeks to improve maternal health practices for the benefit of individual mothers and the long-term health of the community at large.

Affirming second trial of maternal health card game

Thank you, once again, to all our friends in Los Angeles who helped us test our maternal health card game! The creation and development of this game is an ongoing journey - one we hold close to our hearts as it sits right at the center of our mission to find sustainable solutions to the obstacles affecting maternal health in SubSaharan Africa. We are so grateful to all those joining us on this journey, and we look forward to continuing partnering with our friends to make this game a great success!
Sheryl, Jarling, and, of course, Thor!
