ANNOUNCEMENTS

Church Council News:
Wonderful news, everyone! Last Sunday (Jan. 19) Prince of Peace voted unanimously to call Pastor Emily Kuenker to be our new full-time pastor and to approve her compensation package. This means we have several exciting events coming up that you'll want to put on your calendar:

Installation: Bishop Gonia will conduct Pastor Emily's installation service here at Prince of Peace on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 3 p.m. We will serve potluck refreshments at this event. Please see Kathy Evans at church for the sign-up sheet if you can bring treats or snacks to share.

Starting Date: Pastor Emily's first day as our pastor will be the day after her installation: Sunday, Feb. 23. Please plan to attend worship that day and welcome her!

By the way, Pastor Emily could use our help in finding a rental house. If you know of a house for rent, please let Pastor Emily know. She wants to rent a place on her own (no roommates), and she has no pets.

Many thanks to everyone who was able to stay for the meeting after church last Sunday! We had a great turnout, a great discussion, and a great outcome. I am so grateful to God for His clear guidance and our unity at this time. Exciting things are ahead!

Dear Prince of Peace

Please join us this Sunday, January 26th as we welcome back Rev. Catherine Tobey who will preside over our worship service and communion.

Rev. Catherine Tobey was born and raised in Ogden, but she visited to 37 countries by age 26. On many of these trips, she spent one week to four months serving alongside missionaries and developed a deep passion for holistic service and Christian ministry. After earning degrees in Theology and Spanish from Whitworth University, she went on to Princeton Theological Seminary for an MDiv and to be trained at a church plant in urban Philadelphia. Upon returning home, she became highly involved in the local conversation around meeting community needs. An ordained Presbyterian minister, she serves as an administrator at a Christian school, chaplain at a hospital, and partner with her husband in Arcadia Guided Outdoor Education.

UPCOMING EVENTS
Please start bringing your palms, from last year's Palm Sunday service, to church. You can put them in the basket by the sanctuary entrance. We will be burning them after the Holden Evening Prayer Around the World Service on Feb. 5th, so we only have 2 Sundays to collect them.

Please bring canned goods, cash, and/or checks to church on Sunday, February 2nd. All donations will go to the Cache Community Food Pantry.

PoP needs you! We will be providing a nursing home service at Williamsburg on January 26th at 3:00 p.m. and Terrace Grove at 4:15 p.m. The residents who attend (usually 2 or 3 at most) express great appreciation for these times of singing, reading scripture, and praying together. Even though Prince of Peace is currently without a pastor, we still participate when it is our turn.

If you are interested, please contact Mary Feldman
Please join us for Holden Evening Prayer Around the World on Wednesday, February 5th at 7 p.m. at PoP. Written in 1985-86 by Marty Haugen during a musical residency at Holden Village, it is a simple Lutheran vespers service that follows traditional form while using contemporary and inclusive language. All are welcome!
Holden Village Trip: Feb. 29 - Mar. 7
Four people from PoP have already made arrangements to travel to Holden Village again. This video of Holden in winter gives an accurate impression of what it's like there in March.  It is not too late to sign up and join us! If you want to go, you will need to do 3 things pretty soon - like today or tomorrow (!!!):
  1. book a room at Holden Village for yourself for Mar 2 - 6  https://www.reseze.net/servlet/SendPage?hotelid=1523&skipfirstpage=true&page=booking
  2. book the ferry from Fields Point to Lucerne on Mar 2 and back from Lucerne to Fields Point on Mar 6   https://ladyofthelake.com/ticket-request-form/
  3. room at Holden Bed & Breakfast (which is "downlake", as opposed to the Village itself, which is "uplake") for Sunday Mar 1.  The B&B is a huge chalet with many bedrooms, shared bathrooms and a shared kitchen. You can email Roberta, the host at the B&B, at bandb@holdenvillage.org to ask for a room
Talk to Karin deJonge-Kannan about carpooling.  If you are a USU student, all expenses for the entire trip will be reimbursed.
