Welcome Shannon Burke!
This Sunday we are pleased to welcome Shannon Burke as she leads us in worship.  The following provides a bit of background.  We hope everyone will join us and welcome her.

Shannon Burke, a Tennessee native, has enjoyed living in the great state of Utah for the past eight years with her husband, Patrick, three children, Rachel, Cal and Wheeler, and her two dachshunds, Booker and Benny. The Air Force brought her family here for her husband’s last assignment, and they fell in love with the beauty of the state.
A graduate of Belmont University, Shannon received her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, College Park, in Policy and Leadership in Education. She is currently a student in the Master of Divinity program at Central Baptist Theological Seminary, which is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches.  In the words of Frederick Buechner, Shannon is searching for where her “great gladness meets the world’s deep need.”
Shannon has been active in ministry for the past fifteen years serving as Christian education director, youth ministry leader, Bible study teacher and deacon. An “ecumaniac”, she considers herself a spiritual “border crosser” and finds herself at home among a diverse array of denominations. She appreciates contemplative spirituality and is grateful for that formative influence in her life. She is an avid practitioner of yoga, a book lover, and enjoys hiking with her family.

Call Committee Progress:

The Call Committee has now completed interviews with three pastoral candidates. We have released two of the candidates from the call process and we are currently deciding whether to conduct further interviews with the remaining candidate. We will continue to seek additional candidates from the Bishop’s office for now and we hope to receive materials for a fourth candidate next week.

As usual, keep watching for updates in the Proclaimer or feel free to ask members of the committee about our progress.

Adult Education Sunday Hour
Because people come and go and are not there every Sunday, we will study the weekly lectionary texts in more depth as a way to supplement our faith formation.  We will discuss the following texts:

-Psalm 111 (1)
-2 Timothy 2:8-15
-Luke 17:11-19

-Genesis 32:22-31
-Psalm 121
-2 Timothy 3:14-4:5
-Luke 18:1-8
Lutheran Campus Ministry News:
Six LCM members will be traveling to Albuquerque, NM on October 11-13 for the Rocky Mountain Synod-wide LCM retreat. We will be staying in the (tiled) fellowship hall at St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Since we are flying, we are hoping to pack as light as possible. If anyone has sleeping gear that packs small (such as inflatable or "accordian" sleeping pads) that they would be willing to lend us for the weekend, please contact Sarah at
