As you all know by our special mail, MGIP is now member of the IPA!
This is a great achievement to us. It gives us new opportunities to expand our horizon as well as to make new contacts. A first possibility could be the following invitation to Delhi, provided by the general manager of the Federation of Indian Publishers, Mr. Pradib Chhabra:
The Federation of Indian Publishers (FIP) is hosting the 32nd International Publishers Congress in New Delhi from 10-14 February 2018 and it is going to be a great opportunity to interact with International publishing fraternity. The principal theme of the Congress is ‘shaping the Future: Innovation meets Experience’. The four-day Congress programme will encompass many major issues for publishers, such as Copyright, Freedom to Publish, collective rights management, children’s and STM publishing etc. The Congress will offer unique opportunities to the  participants to meet and interact with the top Executive and Professionals of the Publishing Fraternity from across the Globe, thus providing a very strong networking platform. For further information you visit our website On the website, you may register yourself, your accompanying guest and chose from the various payment options available. Looking forward to your cooperation.
Pradip Chhabra
General Manager

Dear guests, dear members,

What a pleasure for me, to see all of you here joined for our kick-off Frankfurt dinner! I apologize to start with personal matters, but sometimes life events show you the way to the future.

I became, for the first time, a grandpa six months ago!  And I had a dream... I had the dream to see Victor, my grandson, as a talented publisher in 30 years from now! How would be the world then and particularly the world of publishing? I am expecting 3 major issues:

- The freedom of publishing will survive because we will fight for it and  «no power will be able to shake out words of our authors „My faith in the words is unshakable,“ says the Turkish author Asli Erdogan.
- The quality standard will still improve the printing of books and drive to a never ending success
- Motovun, MGIP, will celebrate 30 years further of worldwide development, thanks to our agreement as IPA member, and thanks to a support,  hopefully by EU which I will try ask for.

But what will change a lot, I am sure about is our job situation! Already now, different Federal Offices of Labour are measuring that we are averagely changing our jobs 10 times in our total working life and for millennials, so called generation Y, it will be much higher - and for my grandson VICTOR they are expecting that he will change his job 20 times! This means we have constantly to reset our knowledge which we  have learnt from daily working life. We have to learn new expertise - in fact we have to achieve a TRANSFORMATION.

We all have to help our editorial teams to improve, and we all will have to transform our publishing houses. How MGIP could be useful for each member as well as for future members on the way to improve their TRANSFORMATION process and be ready to preempt the next success? In the Board of Directors  we recently had a constructive discussion about it.

We will raise working sessions at the next summer meeting in June In the UK. The location will be perfect for it. Following the fantastic motto of our Memorial Book: THE ART OF EXCHANGING KNOWLEDGE we will open at the next summer meeting as well business meetings, the first cycle of MOTOVUN ACADEMY with workshops on different topics, with expert lectures, with coaching between members,  monitored by experts.

Our 40th anniversary was in Motovun village an unforgettable one! I am sure that tonight’s table discussions will as well share souvenirs of it. All is now in the illustrated book you can see as sample tonight and which is the result of fantastic editing by Jan Martens and his team in Bruxelles as well as by Elisabeth Sandmann. I want to thank both of them very much for this perfectly done job. The book was possible by a new printing process,  thanks to CANON.

You are more than 100 tonight, from 20 countries, some waiting list ones stayed outside because they forgot to book their seats in advance. So don’t forget to book already now for the London dinner at our new venue: THE STATIONERS HALL.

I thank all of you tonight to share the MOTOVUN spirit. And all guests I would like to ask: Please go on and join this dynamic Group of great publishers from all over the world. You will improve your knowledge, you will make good business, find lasting friendship and you will be part of a fantastic worldwide network.

France is the country hosted this year by the fair. You are all bienvenue to visit the French Publishing exhibition area at the Forum.

I remind you The ART’S+ panel, „The Beauty and the Beast“ with Motovun members speaking about their experience with digital printing. Have a very nice dinner and a successful bookfair.

How can publishers benefit from digital technology?
This question was at the heart of a panel discussion organised by The Motovun Group of International Publishers at this year’s THE ARTS+. In this interview,  Jean Arcache, President of Motovun Group of International Publishers, talks about the group and its participation in THE ARTS+ 2017.

Recently we have opened our own YouTube Channel!
There you see the 5 clips, which Cristina Galimberti and Alan Giagnocavo have made for the 40th anniversary of MGIP. If you click further on ‘playlist’ you can watch 2 more videos, One of the summer meeting 2015 by Philipp Sandmann and a second by Robin Wood about the Book Bus. On ‘Channels’ we have 2 subscribers: Roli Book and Uitgevers. We could also add channels of other members.
Please note: If you search for Motovun only, you will get other publications from and about Motovun (what is interesting as well, e.g. you can listen to the Motovun men’s choir KLAPA with our ‘anthem’ Mariana!).
