Dear Friends,

Thanks for joining us on April 11th for our meeting with Mayor Robert Garcia! A huge thanks to Simmzy's of Belmont Shore for providing delicious appetizers.

Don't miss our next meeting on Thursday May 2nd entitled "Reimagining the Los Cerritos Wetlands", with presentations by Eric Zahn (Founder, Tidal Influence) and Elizabeth Lambe (Executive Director, Los Cerritos Wetlands Land Trust). Doors open at 6pm, so come early to grab a seat and enjoy appetizers from Legends. All members and first-time visitors are welcome. Anyone can become a member. Just click HERE!

Did you know that the Belmont Shore Parking & Business Improvement Area Advisory Commission takes in about $770,000 annually in funding from parking meters ? If you're interested in learning more about how that money is used and weighing in on the Commission's work to improve the 2nd Street business district, make your voice heard at their next meeting: tomorrow April 18th at 8am at Bay Shore Library.

The 15th annual Operation Easter Basket is going on now at Bay Shore Church on The Toledo Ave. The goal is to collect and distribute 3,500 baskets to economically-disadvantaged children in our community. Click HERE for info about the event and how you can help.
The "complete streets" construction project on 2nd Street from the bridge past Studebaker was delayed due to utilities issues. Workers were able to commence asphalt paving between Marina Drive & PCH on April 6th and the project is scheduled to be completed by early summer.
Public Works is hosting a community meeting on Wednesday, May 1st from 5-6pm at the Leeway Sailing Center (5437 E. Ocean Blvd) to discuss the proposed construction of a permanent Junior Lifeguard facility on the Claremont Launch ramp located at 5300 E. Ocean Blvd. The City has already submitted its application to the Coastal Commission for this project, which includes a 15 ft. tall structure with a rear viewing deck, as depicted in the image above. Please consider attending the community meeting if you're interested in learning more, or contact Capital Project Coordinator Monica Der Gevorgian at (562) 570-7211.
Speaking of lifeguard stations, the Bayshore Lifeguard station, which is part of the Alamitos Bay Improvements at Bayshore Project, is nearing completion. Looking good!
Start your summer right with these Summer Day Camps offered by Long Beach Parks, Recreation, and Marine. Park Day Camps and Aquatics Day Camps are a great ways for kids to learn new skills, make new friends, and remain active and healthy during the summer.
