Greetings Upper Room…
As you know, this past Sunday we celebrated Joe, our much-loved leader, pastor, and friend. Thank you for helping us to send Joe into his next chapter with so much love and goodness. Practically what that means for us is that we are officially in a season of transition. With that reality on our hearts and minds, we wanted to send a few transition-specific updates your way.
The staff and board have been working on a few things as we step into this new chapter. One of those things is a restructured staffing model that meets the needs of the community in the transition period. We wanted to let you know that part of our restructured staffing model has meant shifting some roles and responsibilities. Based on different staffing needs, priorities, and capacities and the desire to be fiscally conservative in a time of transition and change - we made the difficult decision to eliminate the role of Sunday Worship & Connections. This means that Marla Rotman is no longer serving as a pastor on our staff. This decision was not made lightly or easily. In her time on staff, Marla brought Jesus-filled creativity and joy. While she was with us for just six months, she created spaces for us to engage with God and each other, and we know she left an impact on many of you. If you would like to send a note of love or appreciation to Marla, her personal email is: firstname.lastname@example.org.
We wanted to get this update your way and will continue to update you on our transition process over the weeks and months to come. We are looking forward to inviting you to be a part of this transition journey. We hope you continue to join us in worship on Sunday nights. (We are excited Science Mike is here this Sunday.) May 13th we are staring a new series, In This Soil, where we will take some time to remember who we are as a community and consider God's hope for the Church.
If you have questions about our restructured staffing model or the transition in general, please let us know.
