Student NewsBlast for August 16, 2022

We were so eager to get out our first Student NewsBlast for the semester that we used the wrong title ... the correct title is actually Student NewsBlast for August 16, 2022, a weekly email from Student Affairs.

 A Message from President Cheek

Hello and welcome to Frederick Community College – home of the Cougars! I am Dr. Annesa Payne Cheek, President of FCC, and I along with my colleagues are so happy you are here! We are excited you chose our classrooms to share your unique skills, passions, and perspectives.

Congratulations on taking this next step toward living the life you want to live!

This is YOUR time for YOUR journey. I also chose FCC for my journey, when I became president of the College this summer and moved to Maryland from Minnesota with my teenage children. And as I learned, it’s always important to ask for help.

  • If you’re confused about an assignment, ask your Professor for help.
  • If you can’t make sense of the classes you need for your major, ask our Advising Staff for help.
  • If you’re feeling depressed or anxious, or dealing with any other challenges, ask our Counselor for help.

I look forward to seeing you around campus. YOU are our priority. Helping you meet your goals is our highest mission and the reason we are all here, so do let me know what FCC can do to support and serve you.

Congratulations again… Enjoy this time of growth, enlightenment, and fun!

A Letter to Students from Dr. Nora Clark, Vice President for Student Affairs

We are excited that you have chosen Frederick Community College to assist you in achieving your academic goals. As we prepare for the start of the fall semester, we wanted to share health and wellness information with you specifically about infectious diseases.

To help mitigate the spread of these communicable diseases, we continue deep cleaning of highly used public spaces and have placed cleaning stations in classrooms. Hand sanitizer is available at the entrance of building entrances, and masks are available at the Welcome and Information Center in the Student Center.

If you have tested positive for COVID -19 or monkeypox, please notify Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Benita Rashaw, at Dr. Rashaw can help you understand next steps to take and answer any questions you may have. Continue reading >>
