A successful start to our nystagmus skiing lessons!

Inspired by young skiing champion Josh Fuller, who competes alongside the country’s best athletes even though he has nystagmus, the Nystagmus Network recently embarked on a Nystagmus Skiing Project.

For a small charity this is a big undertaking, but we have been helped and supported every step of the way by Josh’s incredible Dad, Jamie.
The very first Nystagmus Network ski session took place on Sunday 4 December at Castleford Snozone.

Jamie was there to meet and greet skiers and make sure everyone got sorted with the right equipment. Then it was time for Charlotte, our lovely instructor, and her little skiers to take to the slopes.

Four-year-old Isla-May had been to ski school before, whilst on holiday in France with her family, but didn’t enjoy it much. Her Mum, Chantal, brought her along to the special nystagmus session at Castleford because she wanted her to learn that skiing can be great fun. So what did Isla think of Snozone? In a word, she loved it!
"She really enjoyed it. It gave her so much confidence."
Chantal said: “I just wanted to say thank you to the Nystagmus Network and in particular Jamie Fuller for a fantastic opportunity today at the assisted skiing lesson at Xscape. It was such a delight to see Isla-May enjoying herself whilst learning to ski. She really enjoyed it. It gave her so much confidence. Charlotte did a fantastic job with Isla.
Having the instructor in such close proximity made so much difference; it gave her the confidence to try and to enjoy it, which is the main point of skiing. Isla now wants Charlotte to come on holiday with us next time! Thank you so much.”

Come and join us on Sunday!

The second Nystagmus Network skiing session is due to take place on Sunday 11th December at Milton Keynes Snozone. If you want to come along all you have to do is book your place at the link here. Not only will you be able to meet Josh and Jamie, Santa will be making a visit as well!

Finally, we want to say a big thank you again to everyone who supports the Nystagmus Network! If you want to get in touch with us please use our contact form here. Have a great day from everyone at the Nystagmus Network!
