Barcode Technology
We featured a new colourful style of barcode technology, developed by a Spanish firm and highlighted by the BBC, which is being adopted by the food packaging industry. The new code will allow a Smartphone to read out labelling and is designed to help shoppers with a visual impairment. 


Monday Focus
We raised awareness of the very limited public awareness of nystagmus and highlighted a study conducted by the Leicester team in 2009, which suggested the numbers of people with nystagmus could be as high as 24 in 10,000.  

Nystagmus Network Parents' Forum
Our online Parents' Forum took place on Tuesday, 13 July. We were a small group this month, but still managed to cover such diverse topics as resilience and independence, mobility training, inclusion and diversity in the workplace and how to advocate for disability, as well as registration and EHC plans.

Meet the Raindrops Judges
We introduced the judges for our Raindrops story writing and drawing competition. Katherine Mengardon, Tim Pearce and Nadine Neckles are due to meet next Wednesday 21 July to decide the winners.

Nystagmus Care Pathway
We featured NUKE (the Nystagmus UK research group) and their ongoing work to establish a Nystagmus Care Pathway which will set out guidelines for hospitals and clinicians across the UK when diagnosing patients with nystagmus and ensure that families are signposted for further support.

A Feast For The Eyes
We featured a Feast For The Eyes, a series of fascinating eye images which appeared recently in the "Ophthalmologist" online  publication thanks to the use of technology and groceries.

Friday Fundraiser
We highlighted two opportunities to become a Friday Fundraiser. The first option is to create a Facebook Fundraiser for the Nystagmus Network and the second is to take part in a Real Buzz fundraising event through easyfundraising.
