City staff here in Stanton are keenly aware of the unique challenges we face as parents, neighbors and a community as we move through each day. We are working diligently and available to you via phone, online through our Virtual City Hall and in person during regular operating hours. As we slowly reopen programs, the Community Services Department is seeking volunteers to assist with our Senior Food Distribution and Out of School Time programs. For information regarding our volunteer program, please contact Kelsey Ransom at
As we continue our efforts to address long-term solutions for the homelessness crisis, on September 2, the City received notice of reserved funding for the State Homekey Program. The Homekey program seeks to quickly fund the conversion of motel units into housing as part of the State’s response to COVID-19. Two of the motels identified for Homekey funds and conversion to permanent housing have executed purchase and sale agreements – The Stanton Inn and Suites located at 7161 Katella Avenue, Stanton, CA and The Tahiti Motel located at 11850 Beach Blvd, Stanton, CA. The third site is still in negotiation with the motel owner.
If funded, the two projects will create a total of 132 new affordable housing units for people experiencing homelessness who have been impacted by COVID-19 in Orange County — a huge win for both public health and addressing the homelessness crisis long-term.
Visit our website for additional information on the Homekey Program and the proven solutions in creating Permanent Housing.

It is going to be a hot Labor Day weekend! So be sure to follow these tips to stay cool and avoid heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat strokes:

  • Drink plenty of water; don’t wait until you are thirsty.
  • Stay out of the sun if possible, and when in the sun wear a hat, preferably with a wide brim, and use sunscreen.
  • Avoid strenuous activities if you are outside or in non-air conditioned buildings. If you are working outdoors, take frequent rest and refreshment breaks in a shaded area.

If you need to Beat the Heat, visit Stanton Central Park (10660 Western Ave) and cool down in the Community Center. Open this Fri-Mon from 12-6pm with chairs placed 6ft apart for visitors to safely socially distance. All visitors must wear a mask at all times while inside the center.
