A Note from the Primary Head

Having access to a variety of reading materials helps children develop a love of reading and encourages them to learn about new things. Over the last few years, we have lost lots of classroom books that have been borrowed by students and never returned. Could you please check at home and see if you have any? Some of them may be library books (stamped and labelled), some may be classroom books - which don’t necessarily have a stamp, but your child will recognise them. From tomorrow, we’ll leave a box at the FS office for all returned school books, please don’t hesitate to drop them off there or to give them to this year’s classroom teacher to return to their rightful class.

We do also welcome donations of books for the classroom libraries (particularly in French), you can add them to the same box or give them directly to your child’s classroom teacher when you see them this week for the class information evening (an important date, not to be missed).

Once again this year, we would like to thank the FSPA for their back-to-school gifts for each classroom library, books chosen by the teachers, which will be presented on Wednesday.

Primary Parent Guide 2018-2019
The online version can be consulted here.

Seesaw online portfolios

Parents can find the QR code to connect to their child’s Seesaw account in their correspondence books. We ask parents to use sign in names that let us know whose parents they are: e.g. John and Sarah Smith’s Mum, Jennifer’s Dad

Seesaw is a pedagogical tool used by the French Section in order for parents to track their child’s progress at school. We ask you not to share Seesaw content on social media. Infant parents are welcome to ‘like’ the content on their child’s Seesaw. We encourage Junior parents to leave positive, encouraging comments for their children and/ or to discuss their child’s Seesaw portfolio at home.

CP- CM2 French Section French and English After School Homework Clubs

We have been able to accommodate all requests received last week for enrollment in the French Section run Aide aux devoirs/ homework clubs. Parents of enrolled students  will receive a confirmation email later this week.

PS-CM2 Parent Information Meetings

The information meetings per year group are taking place this week from Monday 20th - Friday 24th August, please see below for exact dates, times and places. It is absolutely crucial that parents attend the meetings for their children’s classes. During the information meetings, class teachers will explain the functioning of the class for the year, in order for you to be in the best position to support your child during the coming school year.

PS-CM2 Class contact parents

If you are interested in being the class contact parent (parent relais, in French) for your class - coordinating class activities, birthday parties etc. with the class teacher and reminding other parents in the class of events and activities, please let your child’s class teacher know this week. One to two parents per class would be ideal.

PS-CM2 Parent representatives

If you are interested in being a parents' representative on the School Council (three meetings/year) this school year,  please inform the French Section Primary Head, Ms. Carine Capel. by the end of the month.

CE1-CM2 Children’s Council Elections

Teachers will be looking for student volunteers to run as candidates for election as class representatives this week and next. Elections will then take place, with each class voting for its student representative to the FS Children’s Council. The Children’s Council meets with the Primary Head, Carine Capel on a monthly basis to discuss student welfare and other school issues. The first meeting will take place during Citizenship week in September.
