A Note from the Founding Principal
Ms. Heidi Bishop

What a wonderful Inaugural Gala we had last night, meeting new friends, conversations with other families, seeing "old" friends, enjoying an amazingly delicious dinner and dessert, and most importantly, raising money for the school through silent auction items and live auction items! Who could resist "Mitch" the puppy (who was quite popular before and during the live auction!) and his litter mate who was there to keep him company? It was a fun-filled evening, and a special thanks go out to our co-chairs, Wendy Gillespie and Ashley Odom, and their committee for hosting a beautiful evening!!

Parent/Student Conferences have begun and will occur through March 1. Teachers should have reached out to you already to schedule conferences. If you have not heard from your child's homeroom teacher, please email them to schedule a conference. Some of the conferences are occurring during IEP/504 meetings in lieu of a classroom meeting.

Finally, on Saturday, February 23, we will need as many volunteers as possible to move items from the school's main building to the second building so that renovations can begin around March 1. Please email Ms. Bishop ( or Mrs. Disbrow ( to let us know if you can help. We will need hand trucks to help move the furniture and other items. Because of the amount of heavy lifting required, for liability reasons, please keep children at home. This will be a day just for adults or teenage and older children who are willing and able to pitch in and help.
A Note from PE/Movement
Coach Wise

We had many students who participated in the workout challenge for January. There were 17 students (see pictures below) who met the minimum requirement of 13 days of 31 days working out. Keep working toward the February goal of working out at least 10 days!

Thank Yous
Thank you:
  • to Faye Arnold for the use of all the self-created, Orton-Gillingham, phonetically-controlled stories for us to use with our students;
  • to the Anonymous donor for purchasing a subscription to IXL for the teachers and students; and
  • to all the LABCS Families who helped make the Gala venue look so beautiful and festive and all the hard work put into making last night magical and successful!
Our apologies in advance for anyone accidentally left off.
