Dear Friends,
Today is a very difficult day for our country. I am sadden by what is happening at this moment as people storm the capitol and cause chaos. We are currently witnessing great unrest and in times like these we must turn to God in prayer. I ask everyone to join together and pray for peace in our country. We must remember that we are one body, united in Christ.
We can use the words attributed to St. Francis of Assisi, a Saint who lived a life devoted to prayer and peace, as a guide...
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
St. Francis of Assisi; Pray for us
St. Patrick, patron of our parish; Pray for us
Our Lady, Queen of Peace; Pray for us
Amen
