It is meant to provide updates on your industry and to keep you informed about the new BC Home Performance Stakeholder Council (HPSC). Please free to offer your suggestions on other items to include in future newsletters, or let us know if there is anything you think we might do to improve it.

In This Issue:

Home Performance Stakeholder Council

Our primary goal is to support the growth of the key industry sectors within the BC home performance industry. These sectors include insulation, HVAC, windows, energy advisors, renovators, and utilities & government.

Our recent focus has been on the setting up of individual industry Sector Councils, whose members include industry leaders from around the province. They will provide us with input and guidance on issues, opportunities, and priorities. We now have four active councils set up and operating including Insulation, HVAC, Energy Advisors, and Utilities & Government. The other two, Windows and Renovators, are in the early formation stages.

We have been developing regular communications tools that will inform industry players of our Council, invite their participation and input, and provide them with industry updates and resources.
  • Website: Our new site will continually have information and resources added
  • Newsletters: News and updates will eventually be sent to each industry sector
  • Workshops: Local/regional workshops will be held to brainstorm issues and ideas. To date we have had Lower Mainland workshops for both the HVAC & Insulation sectors

Insulation Sector Council Update

Our Insulation Sector Council is now up and running, and the invitation is still open to additional industry members who would like to participate. Companies currently involved are Advanced Air Sealing, Alpine Insulation, BP Insulation, Broadway Drywall & Insulation, Greer Spray Foam, Island Basement Systems, Insul-Twin Systems, Insulpro Insulation, Knights Insulation, Okanagan Insulation Services, and ThermoTech Insulation.

We recently had Council members provide their input into our Insulation Landscape Analysis. This document provides a snapshot of our industry as it is today. It contains a summary of the industry structure, companies & organizations, products & services, market segments, contractor business models, workmanship practices & quality assurance, education & training, and resources & technical support. Over the next few months, using this Landscape (where we are) as a starting point, we will develop a Vision (where we want to go) and eventually a Roadmap (how we will get there).

If you would like to learn more about our Insulation Sector Council, and perhaps get involved to offer your input, you can find out more here…

Insulation Workshop in Okanagan

One of the best ways of offering your industry input is via face-to-face brainstorming sessions. These sessions give everyone a chance to find out more about our Home Performance Stakeholder Council, directly share their ideas and opinions, provide us with input on priorities, and also network with their peers. Our focus in these first workshops is to give you an overview and update on our Council, and invite your input into the Insulation Industry Landscape Analysis and Vision documents.

We previously had a workshop in the Lower Mainland and are now planning a similar one for companies located in the BC Interior & Okanagan regions. It will be held in Kelowna on Wednesday, October 19th, at the FortisBC office, from 11:00 – 3:00, with light lunch served. We will soon be sending out invitations but if you want to register now or if you have any questions please feel free to e-mail Ken Farrish at ken@farrish.net or phone 604-943-9299.
