Best School Garden 2020

It's no secret we have an amazing garden and City of Bayswater agreed! We are honoured to be the recipient of Best School Garden 2020. A very special thank you to our talented gardening team Vern and Braydon for their hard work! In these uncertain times good news is welcome more than ever and we are delighted with this WIN! Semester One Academic Awards

On Tuesday 4 August we were lucky enough to be able to hold a lower school assembly and a senior school assembly. It had been 25 weeks since our previous assembly. The aim of the assembly was to celebrate our academic awards for Semester One, acknowledging the highest achieving and hardest working students. Read more...

Year 7 Masterclass - What to do with an idea

At the conclusion of Term 1 students were selected into our Inaugural Year 7 Masterclass for demonstrating academic leadership in one or more of these subjects; Maths, English, Science or HASS. In addition to their normal timetable students unpacked 'what to do with an idea". Based on the picture book of the same title students extended their thinking and applied it in a systematic way to develop an idea of their own. Read more...

Year 5 and 6 Masterclasses

John Forrest Secondary College has students attending from up to 40 different primary schools and Masterclasses have been an innovative way of transitioning students into the College. Masterclasses highlight the skills of our exceptional teachers and provide students with an insight into critical thinking and problem solving skills required at high school. Read more...


Annual Dance Showcase

Our dance crew delivered mesmerizing performances to a full house at Swan Park Theatre last Thursday evening! All present would agree that the energy in theatre was electric!

A special thank you to our hardworking Dance teacher Ms Danielle Grills, all our talented dance students, staff and students who helped behind the scenes and all the wonderful spectators who purchased a ticket and supported this fantastic event!

Senior Music Concert

On Thursday 17 September the senior music ensembles performed their first concert of the year.  It was a wonderful night, dedicated to showcasing the hard work that the students have done this year.  We also took the opportunity to farewell the Year 12 musicians and thank them for all their dedication and hard work.  Thanks to the students and staff from Governor Stirling Senior High School who joined the Senior Band to perform two pieces on the night. Write a Book in a Day

62 John Forrest Secondary College students across eight writing teams participated in the 2020 competition "Write a Book in a Day". This is the second time our school has competed in WABIAD, with some students returning after enjoying the experience last year so much. Each group was given the task of writing a book for children in hospitals and raising much needed funds for The Kids' Cancer Project. Read more...



HASS Week 2020 ran from the 1-7 August and was a celebration of all things Geography, History, Civics and Economics. Students participated in quizzes that tested their knowledge about staff and their connections to the world with fun questions like: Who jumped from the highest bungy jump in Africa?  Read more...


Inter-House Athletcis Carnival

The conditions were perfect once again for the College Inter-House Athletics Carnival. Many students dressed up in their House colours ready to gain as many points for the House as possible. Participation was excellent in both the track and field events and the novelty events with all students appearing to enjoy the day. Congratulations to those students who competed well, particularly those who broke school records. Please see our photo gallery from the day.


$20 Boss - A Huge Success

Our students have voted and have chosen Friends of Kings Park, Dogs Refuge Home WA at Shenton Park and Beyond Blue as their charities. A combined profit of $900 will be donated. The biggest thank you to everyone who supported this amazing initiative!! Read more...
