Dear readers,

This month, I’d like to use my note to let our readers know just how much I appreciate Kelly Mollnow Wilson’s column. Do you all feel, as I sometimes do, that information on performance health can be a little…academic…not to say dry as dust?

Reading Kelly’s column each month, I find that I am gaining usable, accessible, interesting information about how to better use my body as a musician. Thank you, Kelly!

We have several other treats for you this month! Helen Spielman’s interview with Felipe Tristan reveals yet another interesting and unique path to a life in music, reinforcing yet again one of our main ideas here at the Flute Examiner—there are more ways to be happy, employed and fulfilled as a musician than the traditionally obvious paths.

Keith’s 9mm picc column covers getting in shape and staying that way, and I wrote a piece about one of my favorite sidelines as a weekend warrior orchestra member. We hope you’re all enjoying summer, and we’ll see you next in August!
