"Careers in Science" session

Due to the big success of this session last year, we will implement two sessions on the 3rd of February
  • "Non-academic careers" (Entry jobs in Start-ups, Pharmaceutical Industry, Scientific writing and Scientific Coordination)
  • "Academic Careers" (Young and established group leaders from universities and universities of applied sciences)
Invited speakers briefly introduce their career path and then be available for a roundtable discussion.

"Tomorrow's PI" contest

To all PostDocs: This is your chance as a future PI to present your project to a large audience of renowned life scientists on the LS2 Annual Meeting 2017 in Zurich. LS2 will take over accommodation and travel costs of the selected candidates. Find more information on the application process here. Deadline for application is 15th of November. Please spread the word and good luck to all of you!

Poster sessions and Industry exhibition

Poster and the industry exhibition can be viewed in all coffee and lunch breaks. A special session will be dedicated to poster presentations on Thursday, 2nd of February from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm, accompanied by snacks and music. In 2017, posters will be grouped in poster islands and will be displayed back to back with 7 other posters in the Lichthof foyer area throughout the entire conference and in close proximity to the Industry exhibition to allow for a great interaction.

Friedrich-Miescher-Award for a  researcher in the field of Biochemistry
Scientific Quiz

For the first time, LS2 and SimplyScience will add a quiz to the meeting booklet. Let's see who is the master of riddles and wins a prize!

Friedrich-Miescher-Award 2017 
I To commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the discovery of nucleic acids, the MCB section of LS2 (formerly SSMCB) has created the Friedrich-Miescher-Award. The prize is intended to honour young biochemists and is donated by the FMI Basel (Novartis Research Foundation). For application guidelines, see the listing on the right side in the news section here.

A travel grant for PhDs, PostDocs and new PIs
ScienceImpact is offering a $1000 (USD) scientific meeting travel grant, sponsored by Abcam. Open to PhDs, PostDocs and new PIs in a life science research environment. Choice of meeting is up to you. See the conditions here.
